The computer controls the robot by rotating individual <strong>step motors</strong> connected to each joint (some larger arms use hydraulics or pneumatics).          <description><![CDATA[<div>A <strong>robotic arm</strong> is a type of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_(mechanical)#Linkages">mechanical arm</a>, usually <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Program_(machine)">programmable</a>, with similar functions to a human <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arm">arm</a>; the arm may be the sum total of the mechanism or may be part of a more complex <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot">robot</a>. The links of such a manipulator are connected by joints allowing either rotational motion (such as in an <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Articulated_robot">articulated robot</a>) or translational (linear) displacement.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robotic_arm#cite_note-1">[1]</a><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robotic_arm#cite_note-2">[2]</a> The links of the manipulator can be considered to form a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinematic_chain">kinematic chain</a>.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Robotic arms can be used for a variety of purposes. If you are speaking about a prosthetic arm, it not only gives people their arm back but can also give them improved abilities, like not getting injuries on their arm or even making them stronger. For industrial purposes, the fact that arms can be automated gives the productivity of an endless amount of workers that never tire, never get bored, and need very little supervision. In the future, they may be able to even make replicas of themselves, and i believe there already are some self-replicating robots.</div>]]></description>
