There isn't always a happy ending in a political system. In LOTF, democracy fails to beat savagery. In our world, examples of presidential roles like Trump and Putin show the negatives of a poorly decided leader. We can only hope that the choices we make result in good.

Maturity is important. Ralph dedicated himself to his rule of democracy and the 'british ways', Piggy agreed. Throughout the film, we see that as savagery begins to prosper, a wave of maturity strikes Ralph progressively throughout the dark turn of the story. Maybe if this maturity had been held within Ralph, he would have valued Piggy more, asked him of his real name, and made him more of a key role within their societal system.

The brutes don't always beat the brawn. Though in this story, the 'brute' or savagery did fall successful, I wouldn't consider it a win as many lives were lost and many were left traumatised. As I lightly touched on earlier, if Piggy had been taken more seriously and was heard out more, maybe his smarts would have allowed sustainability.

Despite being a fictional novel, lord of the flies has taught me several things about society and real life. The novel shows that the majority of people want to be a member of a group, and will likely follow the group’s decisions and actions. This can lead to positive results, such as when the boys built the signal fire on them mountain, but can also cause negative consequences, as shown as when all of the boys participated in the murder of Simon. Secondly, when in a survival situation or critical crisis, strong, decisive leadership is needed, with punishments for those who fall out of line. In Lord of the Flies, Ralph failed to show this kind of leadership and his group collapsed. Thirdly, all human beings have selfish, savage and evil desires inside of them, and laws and societal norms should keep this in check. This is shown as when laws and societal expectations collapse, both in real life and in Lord of the Flies, chaos and violence inevitably ensues.
