If you're looking on the website of a potential business and can't find a specific person to email (sometimes it's just a generic, broad email address), try calling the place during business hours---ask for the email address of an operations manager or other individual who works with hiring/job applications. Also, if you call and get answered with an automatic message/robot, navigate through the listed numbers and choose the # that will take you to the reception desk. It might seem intimidating but ask "is this an appropriate number to ask a general question?"...the front desk *usually* has an answer for you.

Since the majority of mentors will usually have some other project, job, or task that they are working on it will often be a higher priority than the internship; so to it is best to stay on top of all tasks you need to complete and make sure your mentor is aware as much in advance as possible so they will be able to either schedule around it or aid you in finding an alternative in the situation they have conflicting tasks. This also prevents the need for stress on both ends of the experience.

So far this has worked well with both jobs and internships, if you ask a potential mentor in person you will have better results than simply an email or online application. The mentor can see your enthusiasm and knows they've been picked individually rather than been a part of a mass job search. Additionally, for in person internships you will learn how to get there and about how long it will take.
