Performance evaluations are a critical aspect of being a part of a company. Performance evaluations are a useful tool in measuring an employee's job performance against a set of goals and expectations. These goals should be reasonable and align with the overall company goals. When a manager meets with an employee to discuss performance evaluations, managers should be honest and prepared. Ensuring a manager is able to create a comfortable space to give constructive feedback and highlight the good things an employee has accomplished is extremely important.

Creating a reasonable and motivating rewards package for employees is important. Understanding what employees need will help create a more productive environment. These needs could include maternity/paternity leave, paid time off, 401(k) match, etc. Creating that open line of communication for employees to discuss what they need can help hr make more informed decisions on how to better their total rewards package.

HR teams need to ensure they are creating effective job descriptions in order to attract top talent. This will help in finding the best candidate for the position. A well written job description helps define the roles responsbilities and expectations. This will help potential employees decide if they will be a good fit or not. Additionally, this will help the company stay organized and understand what teams and people this role will be connected to. This will also create a reference for HR teams to use in order to create a performance evaluation.

Employee recognition Matter

Recognition may seem small, but it goes a long way in boosting morale, engagement, and retention. When employees feel valued, they are more likely to stay motivated and loyal. For me, this topic is a reminder that HR should not just focus on correcting issues, but also on celebrating success and reinforcing positive behavior. A simple “thank you” or shoutout can turn around someone’s day and create a culture of appreciation that people want to be part of.

Mental health in the workplace is too often overlooked, yet it directly impacts productivity, absenteeism, and employee satisfaction. As someone who juggles school, work, and Football, this topic resonates with me because it highlights how essential it is for HR to advocate for resources like flexible scheduling, access to mental health care, and open dialogue. Supporting mental health is not just a benefit—it's a necessity for a sustainable and supportive workplace.

This quote sticks with me because it goes beyond surface-level representation. True inclusion means making sure everyone’s voice is heard, respected, and uplifted. For HR, this means creating equitable hiring practices, inclusive leadership training, and safe spaces for dialogue. Diverse teams are proven to be more innovative and effective, but only if all members are fully included and empowered to contribute.

Inclusion in the workplace is crucial because it increases creativity, innovation, and problem-solving. Inclusion is about how well the contributions, presence, and perspectives of different groups of people are valued and integrated into an environment. An environment where many different genders, races, nationalities, and sexual orientations and identities are present, but only the perspective of certain groups is valued or carries any authority or influence, may be diverse, but it is not inclusive. An inclusive workplace makes everyone, regardless of who they are or what they do for the business, feel equally involved in and supported in all areas of the workplace.

Meaningful feedback and recognition are crucial for individual and organizational growth. They create a sense of value, boost morale, and motivate employees to perform at their best. Employee feedback aims to foster success and changes in the future, while employee recognition is focused on celebrating achievements. The recognition caters to the human need to feel valued and acknowledged. Everyone needs sufficient recognition to feel appreciated, confident, and motivated. Employees with greater self-confidence and self-motivation are more engaged and productive, which directly impacts business outcomes. It also plays a key role in cultivating a positive emotional culture. In workplaces with positive emotional cultures, employees feel free to share positive emotions.

Companies should always cultivate a learning mindset because it leads to increased innovation, improved problem-solving, enhanced employee engagement, and a more resilient organization. Employees with a fixed mindset are less likely to flourish than their counterparts with a growth mindset. Most companies focus solely on evaluating an employees abilities and qualifications, overlooking the it willingness to learn and grow. Having a growth mindset helps the belief that hard work, persistence, and learning are what produce results. Organizations can then unleash creativity, productivity, and employee satisfaction by promoting a learning mindset.

Starting a new job can be overwhelming, which is why a well-structured onboarding process is so crucial. When new employees feel welcomed and clearly understand their role, they gain confidence and begin contributing at a faster rate. It also builds trust and loyalty, which helps employees feel like they truly belong. Due to this, it can reduce early turnover rates. This topic matters to me because the way someone is introduced to a company usually shapes their long-term engagement, satisfaction, and overall success.

When employees have opportunities to expand their skills and knowledge, they tend to stay more motivated and focused on their work. It also creates an avenue for job promotions, which not only saves the company time and money, but also boosts morale by proving that internal growth is possible.
Toxic Workplaces Don't Build Loyalty

Toxic environments take a serious toll on people including reducing morale, creating constant stress, and often leading to valuable employees quitting. It'd be one thing if there were occasionally bad days, but if there's a pattern of negativity, poor communication, gossip, or leadership that doesn’t support or listen, then it will deteriorate morale. Over time, that kind of work environment breaks trust and makes it difficult for employees to feel safe or valued at work. This topic matters to me because no one should have to damage their mental health just to keep a job, and it's not worth the consequences that it can bring.
