I consider myself as a very open person who is knowledgeable about the issues that happen in our society (from poaching, to deforestation, to cultural differences, so on, so forth), but hearing about these issues and being able to empathize with your stories have been very eye-opening.

As people who are absorbed with our own lives and challenges, sometimes it's easy to forget that there are still so many difficulties in our world today. I am familiar with personal grief, and I was sure that I was desensitised by heavy topics (because I often write fictional stories revolving things like that), however today has shown me that we are still human and we have the capability to understand other people.

The topic for today also made me realize that people are truly different, no matter where they're from or what family raised them. Everything serves as a factor in a person's growth, so I think this will help me in the future, when I need to truly understand my young students who cannot differentiate what's right and wrong.

i gotta be honest, indigenous culture would be something that most genz wouldnt accept/adapt to. sometimes we werent even brought up in a modern culture but the society, mainly the social media itself has impacted our generation as much. for example, things that westerners may accept would also be supported by genz but not their parents, since it’s not in our (malaysians) culture. i think this was clearly explained by dr haeza in the tensions between the two worlds~ here, opinions may collide and some of us would be talking back to our parents, telling them that this new culture is the new norm and they should leave all those traditionalist mindset behind. anyways i liked how today’s lecture went since it’s very (like seriously VERY) related to genz (us~) looking forward to hearing more about dr haeza’s life experiences!

Today's topic made me realise about how important it is that we stay grateful in what we have today. Just like Dr Haeza said, we tend to take things for granted until we no longer have access to those things. Sometimes we complain and look pass these things but I learned that the parts of living that we view as nuisance often contribute more than we could imagine to the grander scheme of things. Looking around, it's definitely is a privilege to be born in a happy family that supports your dream and wishes nothing but the best for you. My parents has always been my #1 supporter since I was born and I'm grateful they're still here with me. Little did we know, family is one of the greatest source of why we are who we are today. At the end of the day, no matter in what background family you are born in, it depends on you to decide who you're going to be from now on. Thank you Dr Haeza for another great lecture!!! <33

I apologise I am a bit late because I remember that you told us to watch how our fingers work while eating 😂 Now I am more grateful that we as Malays are born this way by our family. I aslo think today's topic is very fun and relevant to our generation these days. First of all, thank you Dr for today’s lecture. It’s energetic as always💪🏻. I gained lot of worthy lessons by listening to the experiences you shared to us. In addition , I do believe that I can improve myself by applying today’s lecture (Culture and Ethnicity) in my daily life when it comes to confront diverse people out there.

Firstly, thanks for all the new knowledges for today’s class Dr. Based on the lecture, I feel more grateful and blessed to be born as a Malaysian because we have so many privileges even we are a third world country. I remembered when Dr. Haeza was telling us the story about her late student ,she said we cried because we have empathy and that is what makes the profession of a teacher suit us.I will always remember to have empathy towards my students.Thank you Dr.Today's lecture has enlightened me even more about the culture around us and how everyone can be different from one another.Thank you for encouraging me to be a better person every day

Thank you dr. Haeza for today’s lecture. First of all, my opinion about the indigenous people is most of them not really exposed to technology. So maybe because of that, they are not that friendly with us, who stayed in city and so on but not that rural area. Personally, i dont know that they own Malaysia at the first place. I thought that they come here without any permission, but that was wrong. Now i know, they are the real indigenous people in Malaysia. Overall, i love today’s lecture so much because all of your story. Im so impressed by listen to your story just now. Lastly, thanks again dr Haeza <3

I learned a lot of new things and knowledge from today's class. And of course, my fav part of the class is when Dr Haeza tell us about her experience and life story. You inspire me a lot tbh , i love to hear your slangs when you speak english which inspires me more to speak english publicly and more confidently.Futhermore, i also do realize that we need to take care of the earth and not do pollutions because there are so many life affected by it. I was into it the whole time. The input was also very touching. From your story to the lesson itself, will be always remained in my heart. It left some impacts in me to reflect back on my life. Today's topic is very interesting to me because I could learn there's is different type of background that people raised in. I believe even in the modern culture nowdays, there are people who still follow their ethnicity traditions so that it will never be forgotten. What I like is when Dr haeza also emphasize that it doesn't matter what type of background that we brought up from, being ourselves are way more important than trying to change ourselves so that people would accept us. Apart from that, as a human being we need to be more open and learn how to adapt with new situation. From the situation and experience itself is how we are going to make more friends from other races, culture and ethnicity. Today's class was fun Dr haeza. Thankk youuu Dr <3

I always feel like I know enough about our cultures and ethnicities,but upon hearing your stories made me realise that I need to read more and explore more.I need to see it for myself and experience all kind of things to be an aspiring lecturer/teacher as you,Dr Haeza.Seeing someone who talks with knowledge and experiences is so engaging until we dont realise how much time has passed.Plus when you told us about your student(may Allah grant the highest jannah for her),I became a bit emotional and started crying with my friends.I really do take things for granted all this time,and I should be more grateful after this.Thank you for the amazing(as always)lecture Dr Haeza!

It opens up our mind whenever it relates with our profession as a teacher to not be judgemental towards our future beloved students . Hi dr Haeza. I enjoyed today’s lecture. Personally, you remind me to be kind to everybody and don’t judge others so then , I can have a lot of friends. Other than that, you taught me hidden curriculum such as, relate to your stories with my life, be kind and understand to be more grateful. Furthermore, we need to keep in mind that not everyone have to accept who we are. It’s okay to not be accepted because everyone is not the same, we are built different,( we are different breeds xD) . I’ll start off by apologizing for writing this late. I love hearing your stories and experiences in life. I do can relate to being spoiled hahaha. My parents provide and give everything that I asked for in which I’m so blessed to have them in my life. Hearing you shared about your late student got me reminiscing about my dead cats. I have never lost anyone dearly to me, family nor friends and i do wish i will never experience it. But then, every soul will taste death. Thank you, Dr Haeza. I really enjoy today's class. It's fascinating to listen to the history of Penang, Australia and more from you. I am always able to learn something new and interesting in your class. Also, the horror story that you shared is also interesting since that's the first time I have heard of that story. Not to forget, I really appreciate it how you always remind us not to be judgemental especially as a teacher-to-be as well as to be true to ourselves because it is indeed as you said, nobody can truly accept us the way we already are except for ourselves. Thank you Dr for today's session!! I could relate to this topic when I realised that by being myself there is also a special culture I grew up with. Before this I felt really left out because I don't speak with any dialects
