         <description><![CDATA[<div>Theaters of the Globes &amp; Blackfriars<br><br>The globe theatre had a raised stage at one end and was surrounded by three tiers of roofed galleries with balconies overlooking the back of the stage.<br><br>Women were not allowed to act in the theatre, they were to be home with the kids or cleaning. Women were portrayed by men for a while in plays. <br><br>The poor people who watched the plays were called groundings because they sat in an area where the roof was open so when it rained and snowed they would have no protection from it. It was known as the pit or the yard.<br><br>Shakespeare was part of the theatre company called the Lord Chamberlains's Men or the King's Men.</div>]]></description>
