I expect to learn a lot about the Illinois government, because I honestly don't know a lot. I am also excited for possible debates because I have very strong opinions politically. My level of interest in politics is actually really high because I strongly believe that people deserve equal rights and the help that they need. It upsets me that we aren't doing that to level that we should.

I thought it was interesting that O'Conner didn't seem to be very supportive of feminism, considering she was the first female of the supreme court. I also learned a lot about Ginsburg, and I'm fairly sure I've heard of her before. Although, it was really just my Dad saying that she refused to retire while Trump was still president to protect her women's rights laws.

Declaration of Independence

I really liked parts of the reading because I liked some of their voices and thought that some of them had really powerful, strong voices which are necessary for the Declaration. I though some of them had weaker voices, though, and some of them obviously didn't know their parts as well which lessened the strength of the overall speech. The readings they did together were just awkward.
My favorite part of the declaration is part where it talks about how it's their right to declare independence because it seems to use common sense and gives off an unsaid air of "yeah you idiots". It makes me feel vindicated.

It was very frustrating to see how easy it was for one rich man to manipulate part of our government and very scary to see how easily Jeff was set up to look like he was committing a crime. I also didn't like that you never really found out why Willow Crick was so important or how Taylor was going to benefit from the bill. It was pretty informative on how a bill was made though, because Saunders did a pretty good job of explaining it, and I got a cool look into some of the intricacies of how people speak in Congress.

Mr. Smith Beyond the Movie

I think Jeff would have been a Democrat. The only social issue that I could pick out was that he believed that women could be smart work just like men. He takes advice from Saunders throughout the whole movie, and greatly respects her. He also seems to really dislike rich people, especially when they try to control everything. Since that's one of the big things the Republicans are known for, I would label him a Democrat. He did seam to hold a belief that you should work for the good things in life, which is kind of a Republican view, but I think his dislike of the rich and support of women's power would place him as a Democrat. I also think that he would probable continue on in politics, to protect the little man, like his father did.

I compared Jeff to our current governor, Bruce Rauner. I don't think they are anything alike. Jeff really cared about kids, and Rauner cut programs for the homeless youth and has cut money for he education of children a few times. Rauner was a businessman, and I think that Jeff really would not like that because he didn't seam to like the rich being in charge. I can see Jeff liking Rauner's stance on abortion, however, because he seems to believe in women's rights and abortion is one of the main issues in whether women should have the right to say what to do with their bodies.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Rauner
