I define leadership as the ability to motivate, coerce, or convince a group to move in a preferred direction. Sergiovanni discussed how leadership takes many forms. Good leaders can be stewards and/or servants. Transformative leadership is a form of leadership grounded in an activist agenda, one that is rights based, believing every individual is entitled to be treated with dignity, respect, and absolute regard (Shields, 2010).
