How much self rule did they have in the colonies?

I would say very little self rule was established after the start of salutary neglect. During the beginning, the House of Burgesses were the first signs of self rule and colonists having some say in voting and getting involved in politics. Although the mayflower compact and the fundamental orders of CT would help promote and encourage the colonies, it would soon start the downfall of self-rule after the Navigation's Act. This act would limit trade between other foreign countries and even colonies itself with these fees and taxation made of exports and imports. Later on, the Dominion of New England would form. In my opinion, this would be the greatest limitation to self rule at the time. This new idea would be to form all colonies into one country with many significant colonies becoming royal colonies. Even after the downfall of Dominion, these charters and other acts made would remain the same with it's reputation changed forever. Since the start of salutary neglect, trade would become more limited as time went by. As such, all of these periods of time and events would be evidence and used against England with how much limited self-rule was established during these times.
