Both men and women in Egypt used to remove all their body hair, except their eyebrows. The absence of body hair represented cleanliness & beauty.

They used pumice stones, tweezers made from seashells, beeswax & sugar-based wax.

Another topic is: men shaving their legs. Society always stereotyped men that shave their body hair as “gay”. People always think about shaving as a feminine thing when, actually, it’s not. Body hair is a biological thing our body creates to protect our skin.

Armpit is one of the most polemic things about women's bodies. When you’re young, people start to judge you about having hair in these areas when you don’t even know your body yet. Going to the beach or wearing sleeveless shirts was always scary, people looking at you with those judgementals gazes and telling you that you have armpit hair. 

Growing up, the first facial hair on a boy is something for him to be proud about, it shows how mature and masculine he’s getting through the years. “My son is finally becoming a man” or “Now is time for you to start behaving like a man” are some of the things boys are told in their teen years, but what hair has to do with becoming a man or not? Teenage girls are told to hide or shave their body hair or else no one will like them, they get shamed for a natural human characteristic.

It's not right or fair that women are brought up to believe that body hair is gross, unfeminine and unattractive. It's socially acceptable for men to have body hair, but women not to, which confirms the constant shaming & policing of women's bodies. Women have received death & rape threats for showing body hair despite it being a completely natural part of being human.
