Darkness is starting to fill the sky and the Grievers are coming out and hunting for the Gladers that are still in the Maze. The giant doors are going to close to keep the Grievers out the Glade. Minho and Alby have been out in the maze for hours, Thomas is worried about them and waiting for them by the door.

The door started closing, Minho almost made it to the Glade with Alby, who was injured; they weren't able to make their way back in before the doors close. Thomas decided to help them so he wanted to run out the door, should he do it? In my opinion, Thomas should run out to the Maze to help Minho and Alby since it gave him the chance to become a runner and he gained trust from the other Gladers.

One reason that Thomas should help Minho and Alby is that it gave him a chance to become a Runner. According to chapter 26, "...you get one day in the slammer. That's your punishment. I also recommend we elect you as a Runner...". After surviving one night out in the maze, everyone think that it is a miracle that Thomas did not die; and the Gladers decided to elect him as a Runner. Thomas has qualities such as bravery, intelligence and leadership which are needed to solve the Maze and bring everyone out the Maze. Furthermore, if Thomas did not become a Runner, the other Gladers would still follow all the rules so they would never discover anything new.

More importantly, Thomas gained trust from the other Gladers so they would listen to him when he come up with his plans. In chapter 22, everyone was amazed by the fact that they actually made it back alive, everyone sees Thomas as a hero. The Gladers thought that it is impossible for a newbie to do something that no one was able to do. Trust from everyone is really important in this situation because nothing will work if they don't trust each other. Later in the story, Thomas solved the Maze and came up with a escaping plan, if they don't trust him, they will not be able to work together and make the plan work. Furthermore, team work is hard without trust; however, they believe that the plan will work so they tried their hardest and help each other to escape.

Some opponents might say that Thomas should not help Minho and Alby because in this situation, everyone is thinking about keeping them selves alive. In the Glade, follow the rules and survive is important; however, everything is going to change soon, the doors will not close at night anymore, so the Grievers can attack the Gladers at night, and the creators will stop sending supplies. According to chapter 27, "Everything's...gonna change...". If everything is going to change, the Gladers need to escape as soon as possible, and with more people, the plans are more likely to work. Further more, this whole story is about trust, help, and sacrifice; if they don't help each other, they can't achieve anything.

To conclude, Thomas helping Minho and Alby let him become a Runner and lead everyone out the Maze; he also gained trust from everyone so they would try their hardest to make his plans work. After all, Thomas should help Minho and Alby so all the Gladers would be able to escape the Maze.
