         <description><![CDATA[<p><em>Klebsiella Pneumonia</em> is a gram-negative, rod shaped bacteria. It is non-motile, so it doesn't move on its own.          <description><![CDATA[<p><em>Klebsiella Pneumonia</em> is among the top six antibiotic resistant bacteria. Presence of porins and modifications of its enzymes contribute to resistance to antibiotics. The production of biofilms, efflux pumps (which pump antibiotics out of the cell), and β-lactamases (which inactivate some antibiotics) also strengthen <em>Klebsiella Pneumonia </em>against antibiotics.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Numerous diseases, such as liver abscesses, bacteremias, pneumonia, and urinary tract infections, are caused by Klebsiella pneumonia (K. pneumonia). Historically, immunocompromised patients have been the main target of serious infections induced by K. pneumoniae. However, with the recent appearance and dissemination of hypervirulent strains, healthy individuals have also become susceptible to infection. Moreover, treating K. pneumoniae infections is extremely difficult due to the strains’ increased antibiotic resistance. </p><p><br></p><p>A subset of hypervirulent K. pneumoniae serotypes with elevated production of capsule polysaccharide can affect previously healthy persons and cause life-threatening community-acquired infections, such as pyogenic liver abscess, meningitis, necrotizing fasciitis, endophthalmitis and severe pneumonia.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Klebsiella pneumoniae is a common cause of infections in hospitals worldwide. Although it can live harmlessly in the intestines, it can cause pneumonia, bloodstream infections, urinary tract infections, and surgical site infections in hospital settings. People most at risk include patients in intensive care units (ICUs), those on ventilators or urinary catheters, and people with weakened immune systems. Some hypervirulent strains can also cause community-acquired infections, especially in Asia and the United States. Drug-resistant strains, including carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP), are spreading globally and are harder to treat.</p><p>Preventing infections starts with strong hygiene. Hand washing is the most effective measure, along with using gloves, gowns, and masks when caring for patients with these bacteria. Hospitals may isolate or group patients with resistant strains together to prevent spread. Cleaning surfaces and equipment, such as ventilators, catheters, and sinks, is important. Screening new patients in high-risk areas can help identify carriers early.</p><p>Controlling infections also depends on careful use of antibiotics. Antibiotic stewardship programs guide doctors to avoid unnecessary broad-spectrum antibiotics and to use treatments based on culture results. Public health agencies, such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), track outbreaks and share information to prevent further spread. Research is ongoing to develop vaccines and new treatments.</p><p>Using good hygiene, careful antibiotic use, patient screening, and public health monitoring helps reduce the spread of Klebsiella pneumoniae and protect patients in hospitals and the wider community.</p><p><br></p><p>References</p><p>Aric Journal.
