Hi - Members of the NCCPE Team are generally in the office 2 days a week and all live within commuting distance of Bristol. This is because many of our team are employed by UWE who want staff to be able to come to campus as necessary so we try and ensure everyone is treated equitably. Some of our team prefer to be office based full time because they work best in that environment. Staff who work a different pattern pro rata their days accordingly.

The minimum salary required to be eligible for a Skilled Worker visa in the UK is currently £38,700.

Whilst the upper end of the salary range for this position is in excess of that figure, the university would expect to appoint a successful candidate towards, or at, the bottom of the range unless there were exceptional reasons to do otherwise. I am afraid it is therefore very unlikely that the successful candidate will meet the salary threshold to qualify for a Skilled Worker visa. However, individual circumstances will affect the position for applicants in respect of their visa requirements and this is something we would ask you to consider when making an application.

I'd like to know whether the role would start before the University Christmas closure, or in January 2025.

If I were lucky enough to succeed in getting this role, I would be unable to accept it unless paid at the higher end of this scale (domestic responsibilities/cost of living having a big influence here). I would be keen to know if there's a way for me to indicate on the covering letter that I would only like to be considered for interview if the university could feasibly pay the upper-end of the salary if I'm suitable (I note you mentioned in another note that you don't expect to be able to pay at the higher end). I hope this makes some sense and doesn't come off as arrogant - I'm just very keen to not waste your time. :) Very best wishes!

The university does not specify that you must live in Bristol - only that you must be in the office 2 days a week. We do not have a preference for candidates who are Bristol based. However, you might wish to consider the commuting costs and time as part of your consideration of whether to apply for the role.

At the University of Bristol, we try to balance our pay offer by valuing the experience and qualities that our candidates can bring to the University, whilst being fair to existing team members. It is therefore impossible for us to confirm what salary we are able to offer without going through the selection process. The salary range published represents a set of 5 increment points within a grade. Employees will usually progress annually to the next increment point until they reach the top of the grade.

In addition to competitive salary, we also offer annual cost of living increases along with benefits including:

25 days annual leave (from 2025) along with 8 bank holidays and 7 University closure days
Employer pension scheme
Hybrid working
