Inbound: Establishing a presence online to make yourself visible to customers > pulling customers in passively

Traditional: More aggressive marketing, relying on luring customers in by offers, sales and buzzwords (usually new technology branded with a catchy name so as to attract customers (f.ex. 'iSight camera' and 'Retina Display' from Apple))

an important part of inbound is that companies provide the customers and consumers with useful information and so lure them in to interact with the companies rather than throwing ads and information they do not even need or want to know at them.

Over the past time the way people react to advertisement has changed and people can ignore more and more ads (ad block, caller ID e.t.c) as well that peoples mind are automatically not paying any attention to ads anymore.

Traditional/Outbound: The strategies exclusively focus on the product. The tactics used to approach the client have the characteristics of being interruptive and less-engaging. The method is highly dependent on the channels it uses - TV, email, phone calls,... The effort can be ignored if the channel is denied by the customers.

Inbound: The strategies focus more on the customers, with the spirit of creating marketing that people love. It usually has the characteristics of being educational with the content includes useful information for the customers for their lives and create a foundation of trust. The potential customers approach the content voluntarily and continuously based on their own interest.

Traditional marketing is receiving less and less attention but costs more to conduct, while the vast development of hi-tech devices enables inbound marketing to cost less but perform way more productively and attract the more engaged groups of audience and put them in one place.
