         <description><![CDATA[<div>The <strong>soil</strong> of the temperate <strong>grasslands</strong> is deep and dark, with fertile upper layers. It is nutrient-rich from the growth and decay of deep, many-branched grass roots. The rotted roots hold the <strong>soil</strong> together and provide a food source for living plants.  Unlike vernal pools, playas generally fill when temperatures are unsuitable for plant growth, and often the <strong>water</strong> is <strong>salty</strong>and/or alkali.</div>]]></description>

Thick, padded soles on <strong>their</strong> feet absorb shock and cushion legs. A prehensile upper lip helps in foraging and browsing.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Temperate grasslands are considered to have a domination of grasses, and are often compared to savannas. Savannas have trees and shrubs scattered throughout, temperate grasslands have trees and shrubs absent. Temperate grasslands are also found in less tropical ecosystems meaning they have a larger temperate variation during the year.  Temperatures in temperate grasslands can vary tremendously which has a big effect on growing seasons.  Generally, they also have a smaller amount of rainfall. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Parasitic-  Rattle is a genus of herb that is considered semiparasitic. Rattle lives on the roots of grasses and gains sustenance from feeding on the flow of nutrients and water through the roots. <br>Commensal- Cattle frequent grassland biomes. They graze on the short and long grasses present across the landscape. As they graze, they disturb insects in the surrounding areas. Cattle egrets have adapted to feed on the disturbed insects flushed from the grasses by the cattle. </div><pre>Mutualistic-   Grasslands are cellulose-rich environments, since the dominant vegetation is grass. Cellulose is difficult for many species to break down. In grasslands, bacteria unique to ruminants that lives in the stomachs of large herbivores helps to break down cellulose. </pre><div><br></div>]]></description>
