         <description><![CDATA[<div>In his early life Samuel  went to school at the  church of englands madras school later heading to a grammar school, he then went to become a apprentice druggist before becoming a certified pharmacist in st. johns .He gained significant wealth from being a pharmacist. In 1843 he married Julia Ann Hanford,they had 8 kids together and in 1862 she died.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Samuel Leonard Tilley joined politics in 1850 as a member of the New Brunswick legislature . He became the provincial secretary in 1854 and later became the premier in 1861. A few years later he represented New Brunswick in the confederation conferences in 1864.When he was defeated in an election in 1865 over the confederation question, it delayed the negotiations progress.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1866 Samuel returned and attended the London conference that passed the British North America act .In 1867 The Dominion of Canada was formed, in the same year Samuel got married to his second wife Alice Chipman, together they had two kids.<br><br>Samuel's new promotion was the first minister of customs and excise for the dominion.<br>He served in Sir John Macdonald's administration in 1873 after five years as lieutenant general in Saint Johns. In 1878 he was elected to the dominion parliament for Saint Johns again and was again the minister of finance in MacDonald's Government.</div>]]></description>
