Though she may have heard many words before, if she is not completely confident in how to use certain vocabulary words, she may be very reluctant to use any of those words at all. Additionally, spelling is a difficult task in itself for native language speakers. And so, for ELLs it is an even bigger challenge! Many ELL students struggle with converting short notes to long sentences.
