Deep learning is the process in which students utilize their surface learning to make deeper connections about ideas. 

2. Making connections on the why it matters, what the solution is telling us about the overall problem, and overall the ability to use vocab/jargon in easy conversation.

I think that surface learning lends itself to deep learning in which deep learning lends itself to transfer learning. Understanding that there is a process it is more attainable to address students needs and gauge what success looks like. 

2. We can ensure in lesson planning we are identifying what the success/completion of each skill requires and how to get there.
