Suburban Sprawl

Suburban Sprawl is when cities expand (mainly for housing). However, this often causes problems such as slums, poor management of the city, and other problems associated with growing populations. These problems can be addressed by renovating the city's infrastructure to get rid of slums. Another problem with urban sprawl is a lack of education. If the residents are more educated, they are more likely to take action to help stop slums from spreading. Another problem of Urban sprawl is that it may damage the environment when housing is created outside of the city. The obvious solution is to not expand into the open environment, however that is not always an option.

Slums are run-down, crowded areas where the lower class citizens usually live. These range from cheap apartments to homemade little shacks made from scraps. The infrastructure in slums is most often incomplete and abandoned. These areas tend to also have high crime rates, which only continue to rise unless major action is taken.

What I learned this week

{Script}
What I learned this week is that life in slums is a terrible way to live. The housing is terrible, it is all crowded, and these slums can be bad for the environment as well. Suburban sprawl can be a good thing, although thanks to poor planning it rarely ever is.
