Good afternoon, ma'am. Ma'am one thing I learned today was to say the confiscations correctly ma'am. Ma'am something else I learned today was to do the IC format correctly ma'am. Ma'am I also learned how to pronounce some words in the IC format while talking to my squad ma'am. Ma'am two things I can improve on is making sure that my leg reaches 90° when I stomp ma'am. Ma'am another thing I can improve on is swinging my arm back and forth. Ma’am I should probably make sure that my arm reaches 90° when it is in the front ma'am. Ma’am I should also make sure my arm reaches 45° when it's at the back ma'am. Ma'am I think I did well in the confiscations ma'am. Thank you ma'am.

Ma’am the third thing I learned today is how to properly say the commands to my squad after they have fallen in ma’am. Ma’am, the first thing I can improve on is raising my leg properly to 90 degrees, and the second thing I can improve on is locking my arms better ma’am.

CCA has been wonderful so far. Honestly it is a huge part of school. I look forward to CCA all the time. CCA is so fun and I also learn many things such as more Footdrills and how to improve my first aid to be faster and neater in my bandaging. I have grown better in doing first aid definitely because of the constant practice. This practise has enabled me to not crack even the smallest smile when I am practicing on my friends or when my friends are bandaging me. This improvement is also discipline which means that I can control my facial expressions better and be more serious during CCA. After all prroffessionalism is one of the three SRC core values anyway. I don’t really think there could have been anything better done when stepping up so good job. I would like to see maybe lesser welfare sessions and maybe more Footdrills or first aid sessions.

Reflection

CCA over the past 2 years has been really fun with a lot of fun memories with my squadmates and seniors. I have learnt various skills such as bandaging and transportation of casualty which make me feel more prepared incase of an emergency and i have learnt how to do them faster. I also learnt how to do different commands during footdrills. As for soft skills, I have learnt various facts about red cross, blood and what to do when there is an emergency during Red Cross Knowledge, YABP and DM. I believe that I have improved in being more responsible as deadlines are very important during Red Cross. I also feel that I have learnt more about teamwork as all of us as a squad needs to discuss with one another about various things. I need to improve on being more serious during cca time as even though the cca is fun, it is still a uniformed group and there is a time and place to laugh but not during GRC for example. I think the Sec 3's did a great job teaching us over the past year and have taught me a lot of new things. When we needed help they did not complain and were very patient with us but were atill strict wheb they needed to be. For future CCA lessons, maybe more kahoot games can be introduced or more bonding sessions with the sec 1s, 2s and 3s.

Reflection

I would say that CCA has been very smooth sailing and quite fun so far. To be honest RCY has helped me really grow as a person. In RCY, I developed a sense of belonging, due to my ma’ams and my squad mates, and have also become more confident as a person. RCY has also helped me better my sense of teamwork as most of the activities are done together with squad mates instead of doing it alone. In terms of hard skills, I’ve learnt how to make the immobilisation for fractured leg more tighter. Moreover I think my commanding for the stretcher in DM also has improved due to the feedback from my ma’ams; although I do think I have room to improve. In terms of soft skills, I would say my resilience has increased due to the many Foot drills lessons. However I think I still have to improve when it comes to DM as the casualty transportation takes way to long as there is low coordination on our part. I think the ma’ams have been really helpful after stepping up as they give good feedback on where we’re going wrong or what we’re doing wrong which I really appreciate. Additionally, I think that the FA summary has really helped me get a better understanding on how to treat different injuries. I’d love to see more Kahoot and Blooket in future CCA sessions!

reflection

CCA has been something i had always looked forward to after school and enjoyed. Most of the time, CCA is very fun as we get to experience our ups and downs together. I have learnt many skills and new things during CCA from bandaging wounds to transporting casualties with a strethcer for my hard skills. Moreover, learning how to deal with a suspicious black bag in the open and learning about all the different blood types and who can be donated to who was something else ive taken away from our lessons. I have not only improved on the speed of my bandaging, but also ability to stay still during GRC. However, i can still work on many other things such as being more serious and to stop laughing during GRC. I feel that the ma'ams now are very good leaders and lessons are enjoyable with them knowing when to be strict with us and when we are able to laugh together. I feel that future lessons can include more bonding with all the squads.

I’ve learned a lot, and have grown to be a better leader, in terms of being IC basically every CCA session. I’ve also improved a lot in my first aid as compared to last year, in both theory and practical. Through doing the summary of injuries and their treatments, I’ve become more familiar with the different types of injuries and how to treat them and during CCA sessions, after practicing, I’ve become faster in doing the bandages, and doing them well. I’ve also improved a lot in DM thanks to the amazing teaching from the sec 3s. I think the teaching style of all the sec 3s is really good, and I enjoy the lessons. Through all the CCA sessions, I’ve also to be more patient and confident.

Reflection for 3 Sep:

CCA has been a really enriching experience. When I first joined, I was unsure of what to expect. Over time, I started to enjoy the lessons, looking forward to every CCA session, even the camps at the start of the year. The small CCA size seemed like a disadvantage at first, but now I think it makes the CCA better as I can really experience the camaraderie part of a uniform group CCA, overcoming obstacles together and never feeling unsupported or alone. I feel like I have really grown in many ways, like having more confidence from being IC; the importance of discipline and precision during footdrills where every detail matters, from my posture to timing; having more resilience and stamina from the physical training lessons; teamwork, coordination, communication skills and cooperation from again - footdrills, and disaster management. I have learnt many skills in the various RCY subjects, from knowing how to transport a casualty on a stretcher, bandaging someone for their injuries, immobilizing a body part for a fracture, doing CPR on an unconscious casualty, to knowledge like what to do during a terrorist attack, and even about the components in blood. All this made me feel confident, knowing that I can now make a difference when it matters the most. Participating in the VIAs like the beach clean-up also opened my eyes to the fact that small actions can have a big impact. Reflecting now, I can see how much I have improved, especially in my leadership and problem solving abilities, yet I know there is still room to grow. Overall, RCY has not been just a CCA, it’s been a journey of new experiences, learning and contribution. I am proud of how far my squad has come and I hope we can continue to strive for excellence. I think that the secondary 3s are doing a great job right now too, having much patience when we make mistakes etc. I hope I can test my skills in more first aid or disaster management lessons!

3 sept

CCA has been in an enjoyable and fun. I’ve leant more things about the CCA and from the CCA that I didn’t know before. I have learnt how to do first aid, how to improve and work on my foot drills and how to keep calm a handle things during a disaster (Disaster management).Aside from that, i also learnt more about teamwork and how i can work with my squad or unit to accomplish something. I still think that i need to improve on my foot drills as sometimes i mess up a that gets the whole squad scolded, i should practice alone or ask my squad mates for help if i get confused. The sec 3 ma’am’s have been fair and even and they always push us to achieve the best. They will give us feedback and tell us how we’ve been doing to encourage us to improve further.I would love to have more revision through Kahoot during first aid or any other theory lessons in the future. Overall, i love CCA and everyone in it.

I did not only learn a lot of skills from the 6-core Red Cross subjects and foot drills, but also discipline. It has also taught me how to be sharper in foot drills, but I still think I need to improve. I think I can maybe do better in foot drills and it has also taught me a sense of punctuality and urgency to finish things quickly and correctly. I think my secondary 3 ma’ams have been really supportive and helpful in CCA. In the future, I would love to do more hands-on activities instead of mostly theory. And overall, Red Cross has been a challenging and rewarding CCA.

In CCA, I have learnt footdrills which makes me a cadet and also first aid which involves bandaging. I think I improved on knowing when to be serious and fun.I also improved in understanding the rules in CCA.I think that I should be more alert when it comes to reporting for general roll call and dismissal. I also think that I should also be more direct. After stepping up, you all are understanding and help with doubts.

Honestly CCA has been amazing for the past two year because of my dear squadmates and seniors and i am super grateful for that cause some people dread their cca. In terms of how i’ve grown i have learnt to be discipline following all the rules that have been put in place for us and also learnt the importance of clear communication as during case study we have clearly communicate with one another while still trying to be discret. i have also learnt to work under pressure as usually FAC can really be pressuring and scary so i learnt how to cope under pressure and remain calm. For hard skills it’ll definitely be learning First aid and CPR, knowing that in the future if anything happens and i’ll be able to help out is truly such a good privilege. i also enjoy learning about such things so it was quite okay to cope with but there is obviously still room for improvement in my bandaging. Another hard skill would be learning about disaster management and how to form a stretcher, if is wasn’t in red cross i don’t think i would have learnt this skills anywhere else so grateful that i have the opportunity these essential skills. For the seniors so far since they have stepped up everything has been all good! For maybe as a squad we can definitely improve in being more serious during cca as in the end we are in a uniform group so we can’t be giggling all the time. Overall red cross has really shaped me into a more disciplined, resilient, and caring person. I’m truly grateful for the memories, the lessons, and the people I’ve met along the way, and I look forward to continuing this journey with my squadmates!

3 September reflection:

CCA has honestly become one of the things I look forward to the most every week. No matter how stressful school gets, CCA is a space where I feel happy and motivated. Over time, I’ve built strong bonds with my squadmates and seniors. Not only that ,I have learnt many important life saving skills such as bandaging wounds and identifying the injuries, transporting casualties to safer areas. I’ve become more disciplined and responsible, especially when it comes to time management and meeting expectations. Throughout my time, I’ve picked up important technical skills, from learning procedures and protocols to handling real-life scenarios, I’ve become more confident and capable. These experiences have taught me how to stay calm under pressure and act quickly and responsibly. I think one thing I could do better is holding my laughs and avoid making faces during GRC/dismissal and especially during Case study. I think I need to start taking cca more seriously so I can improve myself and because it is still a uniform group. I think the seniors have been trying their very best despite their small number. They try their best to make lessons engaging and enjoyable.I really appreciate the effort they put into guiding us, their patience and being strict with us when necessary. They have really taught us many things! I would maybe like to have more first aid lesson where we bandage and maybe more blooklet for future lessons.

Reflection

CCA has been a great experience for me so far. Through CCA, I have learnt both hard and soft skills that helped me grow as a person, such as first aid knowledge, drills, and discipline, which gave me more knowledge on how to handle situations. At the same time, I learnt teamwork, communication, and resilience, as working with my squad mates taught me how to cooperate better and support one another. I feel I have improved in being more disciplined and focused during CCA, but I know I can still do better in taking initiative to answer some questions during DM and FIRST AID.. After the secondary 3s stepped up, the sessions have been more fun and motivating, and I really appreciate the effort put into planning and guiding us. For future sessions, I would like to have more hands-on practice for first aid and more bonding activities so we can get to know the sec 2s more.

9 Feb Reflection

-I think the human stretcher went better than expected! I thought I’d lose my balance or something but thankfully didn’t. It’s all thanks to the strict but rewarding training sessions and case studies.

-I prepared for FAC by studying the manual thoroughly and practicing bandages every day. I also sent pictures of my bandages to Ma’am Zhi Yan, the feedback was really helpful!!!

-I wasted too much time trying to rip off the micro pore tape, I completely forgot to take the scissors. Next time if there are abrasions on the casualty I will definitely remember to rake scissors.

-My goal is to get top 3 for FAC next year. I can do that by consistently revising and improving my skills.

-I enjoyed the unique scenarios for case study! I also liked the fact that I was finally showing some improvement.

-I was struggling, sometimes, to even get my fundamentals right, which goes to show how important practice is.

-I practiced every day. I read and reread the manual every morning on my commute to school. I also sent pictures of my bandages almost everyday closer to FAC.

-Y’all are really good at teaching 🥹 I feel like our school’s RCY is one of the most up to date ones. But for FA I think more case studies could’ve been conducted last year but otherwise, YOU ROCK.

-Although I don’t plan on being FA IC I would suggest the future ICs to add more case studies so that the juniors have more training and have a gist of what FAC is gonna be like. I feel like I would also try to move around different places of the school every session so that the juniors don’t feel confined in the classroom.

Reflection for 9 Feb e-learning, post FAC

FAC went well as we made it into the finals, due to our hard work. I took pictures of 2 different bandages daily and sent them to ma'am Zhi Yan, and learnt and improved from her feedback. We also had case studies every CCA session to prepare for any scenarios that could come out, which really strengthened our teamwork and communication with each other, making us more confident. I could have recited the steps to take before administering AED faster, and will make sure to practice saying it without hesitation at the next FAC. My goal for the next FAC is to get into the finals and be in the top 3. I can achieve this by having more case studies with my squadmates and testing each other's knowledge on theory.

I really enjoyed the sense of teamwork and camaraderie, and getting to test my knowledge. I also accepted my mistakes with an open mind and learned a lot from them. A struggle I faced were the unique scenarios, like doing a forehead bandage while making sure to not touch my casualty when the AED prompted to do so. However, these made the scenarios memorable and fun, leading me to remember what to do if it really came out during FAC. I think that the seniors have been such good role models! There isn't really much to improve on, as shown by the FAC finalist result, but if I really had to suggest something the seniors can improve on is separating the bandages for face/eye, and shoe/foot for hygiene purposes. When I step up, I will try to do the above! I will also ask my juniors for feedback every few lessons, so I am informed on what they like or dislike about the CCA sessions, and improve on the sessions based on this feedback if possible.

For improvements, maybe more case studies can be conducted with the sec ones and two's before the FAC date just for them to know the feel of it. Some struggles were remembering my injuries or maybe like acting it properly or saying the right thing. I overcame them by clarifying with seniors. Maybe to improve it we could do more dramatic case studies like the casualty will have to act or just something really out of the ordinary. To make my juniors enjoy case studies or trainings I can add Kahoot! Or booklet into the sessions but for now I think it great!

I think that our speed in treating and transporting casualties during FAC was very fast. We were quick to identify the injuries and treated them quite well. In the second round, since I was the only one at one of the casualties, I had to diagnose their injuries. Revising everyday helped me a lot, as I could identify them correctly. I don’t really think much went wrong when I was treating my casualties, but I think I could definitely have been faster. In the first round, the amputated finger was right in front of my leg, but I didn’t see it. Only after about half a minute of applying the tourniquet on the casualty then I realised that the finger was in front of me. To improve on this, I will try to be more observant the next time. When we do case studies, I will try to put fake amputated body parts and ask the casualties to hide them somewhere, to train my ability to be aware of my surroundings and to find the body part quickly.

To prepare for FAC, I revised the SFA manual everyday and discussed it with squad mates, as well as noted down any questions we had so that we could ask the seniors to clarify our doubts. I also did 2 bandages a day at home and sent a video to ma’am Zhi Yan to give me feedback on how I could improve on the.

My goal for next year’s FAC is to make it to the top 3 schools, and definitely a possibility, to get first place. To be able to achieve it, I hope to have 2 case studies a month after my squad steps up, as well as revise the SFA manual once in a while, to retain my knowledge of first aid. I will also practice my bandages at home once a week, to be consistent in my skills to bandage.

What I enjoyed most about the FAC sessions were the case studies. I enjoyed the pressure to treat the casualties quickly, and be able to test my FA knowledge, bandaging skills and CT skills. It was fun to be able to do all of this within 7 minutes, which boosted my confidence that we would do well for FAC, since the treatment and CT time for FAC was longer than 7 minutes. Some struggles I faced was to decide whether to get bandages to start treating the casualty before anyone called for the stretcher team. I was not sure if both casualties needed to be transported using the stretcher or if only my casualty needed, since no one had called for stretcher yet. I overcame this challenge by assuming that the other casualty should be transported first, and leaving the retrieving of bandages to treat to a team mate.

Honestly, I think that the trainings are really fun and enjoyable, and yet we learn a lot too. I’m not sure if there’s more to improve on. I really like the styles of the sessions, but that is my personal preference. Maybe for FAC training or for any case studies, we should always have mock judges to take note of every mistake we make just in case we don’t realise it ourselves, like forgetting to change gloves. If I become the FA IC, will definitely continue to use this style of training, I think it was very effective, especially training with only 7 minutes when the actual timing is 10 minutes.

I believe that most of us like to play games to learn, like kahoot, blooket, hangman etc. So if the juniors do enjoy games like these, I will try to play these games during the subjects I teach to make them more fun and engaging, and also to test what they’ve learnt. It really depends on how the juniors like to learn, whether it is through games like kahoot or hangman, or maybe they need motivation to learn by getting rewards if they do well. I will definitely try my best to encourage them, even if they don’t do well for accreditations.

On top of that, i got to do footdrills and bond with my seniors.

Not only that, but i also felt like i needed improvement on myself to be more consistent and more hardworking.

Feb 9 reflection!

Everything during FAC had gone well since we had managed to get into finals and I supported the team from the side and help to carry everyone’s bags. I prepared for FAC by re-reading the SFA manual and practised at bandages at home. My goals for the next FAC is to make it finals again. Im going to try to achieve this goal by spending more time revising my bandages and especially theory since my theory is not that strong.

I enjoyed the different scenarios and aiding my squad mates even thought their acting were not the best. Some struggles I faces during this sessions is when I freeze up and get nervous when ma’am Zhi Yan watches me. Another thing I have been struggling with is how I laugh easily or make faces while I bandage. I’m still trying to overcame my nervousness by not looking at ma’am Zhi Yan or I’ll just stare at her until she leaves and goes to the next casualty. Although it’s hard not to laugh during the case study sessions, I have stopped laughing regularly by not laughing.

I’m think the seniors training plans are quite good so it doesn’t really need any improvement, oversll I think all of the seniors conduct their lessons amazingly.

I think the future FA IC should more Kahoot because everyone loves kahoot and the juniors would be more engaged and enjoy the lessons! Knowing that they would play kahoot would idk make them motivated to learn their theory to win first place since first place has lot of aura. Another suggestion is to conduct more case study sessions so as they would know how FAC would be like.
