As they say, the rest is history.

Most memorable learning experience was the first time I got to learn about the Active Learning Strategies, facilitated by some of the trainers from KSTVET, while I was still employed under BoM terms in one of the prestigious National polytechnics.

Pamela Arunga

Reflective summary

Total years of teaching/instructing:

31 years

One expected take-away from this program:

To be a digitally competent and confident CBET methodological trainer

Most memorable teaching experience:

During my short stint in teaching Secondary school, as a Form 2 class teacher: The tradition at the end of each term was to praise the top 3 and roast the bottom 3 students. This got me thinking..... then in the third term, I flipped the script— I changed the usual approach of shaming the bottom three students. I instead called the consistent bottom 3 students my “best” students and highlighted their hidden gems/strengths, i praised their positive qualities, which shocked and motivated them and all present. Encouraged by the support and recognition, they improved significantly and were never at the bottom again. The power of motivation!!!

Most memorable learning experience

Learning to Zip-Line with Gen Zs: A Leap of Faith

I was deep in a forest with fearless Gen Zs, when i faced my first zip-lining challenge; i was thoroughly terrified, questioning my age, the safety of the gear, and whether I’d scream louder than the kids. But my sons -my biggest cheerleaders—rallied behind me, hyping me up like I was about to win an Olympic medal. After a thorough safety briefing and some serious self-talk ("You’ve birthed humans, you can do this!"), I took a deep breath, trusted the gear, and leapt. And guess what? I nailed it. A smooth, exhilarating sweep through the treetops, and deep valleys below. right there, fear gave way to pure joy.

Turns out, you can teach old dogs new tricks, especially with young cheerleaders at your side!!

Favourable teaching tool or resource

Kahoot and google classroom

at your side.

Favourable teaching tool or resource

Kahoot and google classroom
