         <description><![CDATA[<div>our on-site activity requires the children to use their 4 senses (touch, smell, sight and hear) when they go to the botanic gardens. there is a children’s garden found there where the children can learn about the leaves by touching, smelling and seeing the plants found at the sensory garden. there is a big patch of grass which the children can all go to to step on the grass and listen to the sound of each step. alt: there are fallen leaves that are commonly found there which the children can step on to hear the ‘crunch’ of the leaves. the children’s responses when using their 4 senses will be recorded/ written down by the teacher using an iPad.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>there are some risks found at the botanic gardens such as animals (chickens, otters and monitor lizards), golf cars, visitors, low lying branches and consuming of leaves.&nbsp;<br><br>animals: the animals are found all along botanic gardens which cannot be avoided, however the children will be briefed not to approach them&nbsp; and keep a safe distance from the animal.&nbsp;<br>from our experiences of going to the botanic gardens, the animals would not disturb others unless provoked. (unlikely risk)<br><br>golf cars: during our time at the botanic gardens, there were a couple golf cars that drove in the middle of the the pathway. however it is clearly visible when the golf cars are incoming and they usually slow down when there are visitors walking. the teacher present there will have to keep the children to the left to allow the golf cars to drive past. (likely risk but can be avoided)<br><br>other visitors: there are other visitors there as it is a public area. the children will be advised not to walk up to a stranger during their time there and to always stick to their groups and teachers. (unlikely risk)<br><br>low-lying branches: there are a couple of low-lying branches on the path that the children and teachers will take to get to the children’s garden. the branches are around the children’s height. at this point of the path, the teachers and children will stick on the left of the path (away from the branches) to ensure their safety. (likely risk that can be avoided)<br><br>consuming of leaves: as the children are going to the sensory garden and smelling the leaves, there is a chance the children may like what they smelled and may consume the leaves. the children will be briefed beforehand to not consume anything found at the botanic gardens. (unlikely risk)&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Stairs : the stairs are wide and there are railings only on the right side, hence, children standing on the left might trip over if not careful enough. In this case, we can get the children to stand in a single file and climb the stairs.&nbsp;<br><br>Railings : Between the exhibition and the stairs, there is circular railing in the middle of the space. Between the small pillars, there are holes that are not very big, but big enough to fit their entire arm. The children will be briefed to remain in their single file and to not fall out of line as we transition from the stairs to the exhibition. We will also be observing them.&nbsp;<br><br>Plastic boxes : Some of the displays are placed in plastic boxes with space behind it. Some kids might try to stick their hand in there. This is dangerous as the edge of the plastic box might be sharp. The children will be told to not touch anything and will also be closely observed to further prevent anything from happening.&nbsp;<br><br>general public : The children will be told beforehand not to interact with anyone that is not their teacher or their classmate. They will also be told to not accept anything given by them, and also remain quiet and use a low volume when speaking, so as to not cause disturbance.&nbsp;<br><br>Telephone cord at interactive corner : The cord is long enough for the children to tangle themselves in it if they were to play with the cord. If taken too far, it might also be able to choke them. Hence, as mentioned earlier, children will be informed not to touch anything.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

Children will be reminded to hold onto the railings as they climb the stairs to prevent falling down.<br><br>Slope:<br>Children will be reminded to be aware of their surrounding before sliding down the slope as they may collide into their friends if they are not paying attention.&nbsp;<br><br>The Slope may be slippery, children are to remove socks when climbing up the slope.<br><br>A teacher will be there to facilitate and to prevent accidents from happening.<br><br>High platforms:<br>Teachers have to get children to step up onto the platforms one by one so as to prevent collisions and injuries.<br>At least one teacher should be stationed there to ensure children are careful and do not push one another.<br><br>Public:<br>Children will be reminded not to interact with strangers and wander off.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

When unable to see, raise hand and ask for teacher’s help.<br>-	Chairs(climbing on chairs = fall)<br>Remind children to not run around, jump or climb alongside the chairs as they might get injured.
