How does a child of genius fit into the world of his peers or even of his parents?

Our group pretty much agrees that the child will never fit into the world with his parents and his peers. This pertains to social interactions as well as IQ. The child will always be above age-appropriate activities and schooling, so he will never have much in common with kids of his own age, or the kids twice his age who he will be attending college classes with.

Some of the different viewpoints shared are: In some instances a child can me more intelligent than their parents, which is unnatural and could be awkward, but most children will always see their parents as superior to them.

Is a prodigy the product of nature or nurture?

We agree that a prodigy is a product of both nature and nurture. Some children are born with innate talents that make them destined for greatness. However, it depends on who/what is pushing them to accomplish these goals (nurture). The level of self-determination combined with support and motivation implied by other people/sources could determine where exactly the child could go in the future.
