It looks like students working together in collaborative groups to master the learning target. Focused conversation is taking place among all students using AKS aligned vocabulary, citing evidence, using context clues. Students are defending and debating in an appropriate and supportive manner for growth. Consensus is made and respect is developed. Students are writing by citing evidence and explaining their thought process through their writing. Teacher mini-lesson is small portion of class and student work time makes up largest portion of class. Peer and teacher relationships are developed and positive interactions are evident. Teachers are moving around the classroom and facilitating, and/or conferring.

A positive learning and working environment. Students coaching and questioning each other using speaking/reading/writing/listening strategies (i.e. summarizing learning, respectfully disagreeing).
