Microaggression is harmful because of the impact that it causes on others regardless of it being intentional or not. Judging someone or creating assumptions about someone without knowing their background stories is not fair and is upsetting. As a young hispanic women, I have endured this type of stuff in school and in general. I have been called "too light to be a mexican", "you don't talk like what you look like", "you're cute for a mexican". However the one "joke" that makes me the most mad is the immigrant jokes people had made about my parents. If you don't know my parents or their struggles, do not talk about them.
