The First Amendment on Campus

In the article given to us, it talks about the First Amendment and how students are choosing to exercise this right on their college campus. It explains how public college are supposed to allow their students to exercise this right since it is funded by the government. Private colleges have the option to choose whether or not they allow protests. Students however are not doing it properly and causing distractions for the teachers and students that are trying to learn.

I personally agree with the way the colleges are dealing with these protests. I believe that a peaceful protests with chants can and should be allowed. However, when students are being violent and camping out administrative buildings, it becomes an issue. Not only does it no longer follow the First Amendment, but it prevents people from pursuing their education and teachers from doing their job.
