I have grown in book clubs by saying what I think about what might happen in the story that I am reading and explaining my thoughts and telling people why I think that might happen. What I have noticed in book clubs is that when I am doing post-it's I should try to go deeper into my meaning and say more. Instead of saying "that is scary." I can go deeper and say "that is scary because if something goes wrong it could be very sad for the family and scary. It would make me feel sad if that happened to someone in my family." If I make a connection with someone that I know it will make it easier for people to understand.

Independent Reading

This year think I have grown a lot in independent reading. I think that I have started reading books that are more challenging and I think that because I have been telling my friends and family about the books that I have been reading and telling them what I loved/hated about the book that I just finished. I enjoy suggesting books to my friends in my class when we go to the library. I have a slideshow at the bottom about helping my friends with ideas of books to read. I have noticed when I am reading that sometimes I read to fast like I am on a race. Later if you ask me about the book that I have read I can tell you about it but, I sometimes will miss parts and then when I read the book again I read that part I think like "Oh I didn't read that last time."

I think that I have grown in poetry because I think I have enjoyed it more that I have in the past years that I have done poetry. I have made some poems that I really enjoyed writing and I really like them. I think this year I have understood more ways of writing poetry and not thinking that their is just one way to write it. I like writing about a non-living thing and giving it a personality. I also like writing about things that have happened in my family. These are some of the poems that I have wrote.

We had our arts festival. When we were working on it I was part of the script writers group. I really enjoyed making the script and I enjoy watching people perform the script that I wrote. I haven't really done script writing before the arts festival, but I really enjoyed it and I liked sharing my learning with the people that I was working on the script with. I would love to go back to the script writing unit and do it again. Here is one of my favorite scripts that I wrote.

Realistic Fiction (RF)

We have been working on RF writing. I have enjoyed doing this because I love reading realistic fiction stories. They are my favorite genera so I like writing them. I have grown in using more words that say what I am try to say in my story and I know that it is important to explain so my reader can understand. I have noticed that the more you know and understand about your character the easier the book will be to write.

I have grown in acting and being on stage in-front of people. In the beginning I was worried about being on stage in-front of lots of people but I over came that fear. I ended up really enjoying it in the end and I think that will help me later in life when I am older and presenting in-front of people that I work with. This to me feels like a great thing to be able to do. I have noticed that I am now able to act and talk on a stage in-front of lots of people and not be so scared of what other people might think about me. I would love to do this again so that I could be not so scared about going on stage. I would still be scared, but I wouldn't be as scared as I was before.

Our new unit is body systems in UOS. I have enjoyed this unit. I enjoy learning about how our body works and how to keep it healthy. I think I understand more about body systems because of this unit. My understanding of the digestive system has grown a lot because I am doing that for my common craft video. I think that I wouLd like to keep working on this and learn more about the other systems. We have kind of just started this unit and I think that I would like to learn more moving forward in this unit.

Our last math unit was division I found it was easy for me because with the help of my parents and and family I learnt my multiplication facts which has really helped me. So, anyway back to topic. I have found division much easier this year than I have in the past years. I think that is because I had help from my parents to do it. (Thank you Mom and Dad!) That has made it so much more fun and enjoyable for me. I would like to go back and just check every now and then to see how I have been doing but that is pretty good. That makes me feel a lot better about it.

I have found fractions pretty easy in all of the grades that I have been in but this year I have found them a bit harder. We had some homework that was fractions and I didn't get how to do it. So I asked Janani to help me because she has helped me before with math so I knew she would be happy to help. So on the bus Janani explained it to me and now I understand how to do it. I noticed that when I get help from someone who is happy to help and doesn't get mad when I don't understand. That helps me learn better.

I think that number talks have really helped me this year. I enjoy going back to what we have all ready learned and making sure I still understand it. I think that if you were someone that wasn't so good at something in math and now you understand it number talks is good to go back and check that you still understand how to do it and you are happy with it.
