In the video, it states that students in beginning of the school system have a creative mindset, but as they climb the ladder of education, this creative mindset diminishes. It is a gene that can be passed down, that cannot just appear in your life. I am disappointed he called it a plague, but many other things he said were quite interesting.

Sir Ken Robinson explained that the current system was built during the Industrial Revolution and still treats students like they are on a factory line—same age groups, same tests, same “right” answers. This limits divergent thinking and makes many students feel they are “not smart” if they don’t fit the academic mold. If education instead focused on developing each student’s unique talents, encouraging collaboration, and waking them up to their own abilities, more students would feel engaged and prepared for a future that values creativity and problem-solving.

We've been brought up to learn that there can only be one answer but it's not all true, there's more than one answer. Therefore when we learn about these topics they apear boring which is why we look for something else to keep our focus but if we can break these guidelines then students will be more willing to engage in discussions.

This is because they're forced to conform to the school system, which as stated previously, does not support creativity as much as it should. Furthermore, I already know that the school system has to make some type of change because of my personal experiences, but I found it very shocking how we're still following structures from the industrial revolution, where students came to school to be educated, and turn out as simple workers. Some people refer to this as the 'matrix', and the people who break out of the 'matrix' are those who are CEO's or entrepreneurs.

Education is not catered to every student and their strengths and talents but rather a factory to make students conform to a mold and come out as a desired product of industrialization and not creativity. Often, students are not encouraged to do divergent thinking and think creatively. The system decreases creativity and it has been proven through studies.

I was surprised to learn that as children get older and go through the school system, their creativity often decreases. Younger children have a very creative mind just at a young age, and you would expect it to grow as they recieve more education, but as they go into the school system, their creativity becomes more limited as they are essentially forced to think the same way. This shows the negative impact the current school system can have on children's creativity, which is really disappointing.

In my opinion, the most impactful change should be centered around boosting the creativity of children, as it helps them to think in new ways and express themselves. Schools should steer away from standardized tests and memorization, and instead prioritize learning that encourages students to be creative and think of multiple different solutions rather than just one straightforward answer. A creative-focused approach would help children be prepared for real-world challenges.

Young children naturally think in imaginative, flexible ways, but by the time they’re older most lose that ability because they’ve been trained to look for one “right” answer. It’s eye-opening to see how the system unintentionally teaches kids out of creativity.

Many changes being made are highly superficial, like changing an assignment to be easier/due later rather than rethinking how we assess learning, how we group students, and how we define smartness. Ken Robinson makes it clear that we need to make more of a fundamental shift rather than superficial shifts, but it will be a big challenge in order to do so.

What was once considered valuable knowledge is now often irrelevant to the challenges and goals of the future. It highlights how the lack of change in the education system is killing the creative spark in students, leading to a real life societal recession. In order to incorporate present circumstances, the education system need to divert their attentions away from standardized tests, rigid rules and age-based learning, and instead, emphasize individuality, creativity, and critical thinking.

One of the biggest changes that would help education is making it more focused on each student as an individual. Right now, schools often treat all students the same, even though everyone learns differently. Some students need more time, others need different ways to learn. If schools gave more choices and support based on each student’s needs and strengths, more kids would do better and enjoy learning more.

The main point of the video is to point out that the education system has not really progressed a great improvement in its way of educating generations, instead it still follows the outdated "industrial paradigm". Robinson supports creating new school systems that rely on collaboration, personalized learning experiences, and creativity rather than remaining in the constant reforming process which builds on an "outdated system”.

A supportive argument would be how Robinson described the unsuccessful education systems as a factory-like system where it relies on specific signals like ringing bells to change activities and has separate facilities. It also relies on specific time-blocks that indicate when students are expected to do tasks overlooking the fact that some function better in the evening than mornings and the opposite is true. Moreover, students are put together based on age groups and he refers to that as their "date of manufacture". He also mentions that this model prevents students from standing out in what they're good at just because of the age-classification barrier.

It's interesting how in the video Robinson stresses that there should be a broader definition of intelligence, directly connecting it with divergent thinking, an essential capacity for creativity. It brings up the meaning that there's no wrong answer but there could be multiple possible answers and interpretations of a question. This makes me wonder how students will get impacted from such an approach towards modern learning, would their creativity spark?

The most impactful change in education must be taking the initiative and effort to wake students up and show them how they can all be unique in their own way and in anything. This can be by allowing students to dive deeper in the topics that they enjoy, giving them a unique experience throughout their learning journey. This way, students will automatically focus, get engaged, gain knowledge and experience, value what they’re learning, and get motivated. When students see success, they would never feel hopeless.
