Mennonite Central Committee was developed in 1921. This was when the Soviet union was suffering from revolution and famine. For these reasons, 4 Mennonites traveled around the world asking for help. Their cries for help were heard from Mennonite Relief Organizations in Canada and the US. As a result, the Mennonite Central Committee was formed in hopes to help more countries, like the Soviet Union, around the world.

MCC is politically significant because the impact it makes on people, the environment, and the economic is long lasting and positive. The Mennonite  Central Committee positively impacts many people because it is situated in every continent in the world except for Antarctica and Australia and is in 50 different counties in the world. In the past year, they have helped millions of people who are in need of food, shelter, education, and are affected by natural disasters. MCC has a long lasting impacts because the issues it helps people in will benefit them in the future. 
Being able to have food, education, and health supports is a long lasting benefit and can positively affect many children around the world for a lifetime. Having education can potentially change a person's career and their lifestyle. Being able to be healthy and having food and water also improves a person’s life and increases their survival rates. MCC strike to make peace and make justice. They also respond to basic human needs to provide support for people in need of relief, food, support around the world. MCC works to improve the quality of life for developing countries and vulnerable countries that encounter disasters/ issues. They strive to, "Share God's love and compassion for all in the name of Christ" ( INCLUDE EMBEDDING)

MCC has taken many actions to achieve their visions and objective. Some actions are listed below.
Actions to care for lives of children and the vulnerable include: 
- Teaching and educating prevention for communicable diseases. 
- Teach sanitation and hygiene practices
- Provided emotional care and supplied for HIV/ AIDS patients
- Advocate to increase access and education for low-income families, girls, minor ethnicity, and people with disabilities. 
-  Provides legal support and help refugees settle into new cities. 
Actions on basic needs and teaching ways to earn income: 
- Donations to countries experiencing natural disasters
- Provide emergency good, shelter and MCC relief kits
- Educate people to prevent future disasters such as teaching safer building strategies. 
- Rebuild homes, aid with trauma
Actions to increase opportunities and working with communities: 
- Advocate for government policies to allow everyone to access enough food. 
-Supports medical clinics and health training. 
- Train young teachers and provide educational materials and other support. 
- Promote peace clubs to help young people become leaders. 
- Advocate for fair legislation (laws)

Despite many accomplishments and support that MCC has achieved and accomplished, there are still difficulties happening around the world. These problems have not yet stopped just because of one group's input but they have been able to provide their support for millions of people around the world. They are limiting the consequences and are teaching thousands of people prevention methods and ways to continue their life. 
Highlights and accomplishments in 2017 (around the world) :      
 - 94, 519 people received emergency food assistance
- 25, 835 people received clothing, bedding, kitchen utensils etc. 
- 10,355 people received heaters
- 9, 992 infant care kits shipped 
- 55, 115 hygiene kits shipped
- 70, 652 school kits shipped 
- 38,278 students participated in school food programs
- 10, 616 people received psychological trauma, counselling,  and therapy support.
