         <description><![CDATA[<p>Key takeaways from this course was that I learn more about the different types of frame work put in place in order to prevent crime. </p><p>As well as the different deterrence theories and sentencing guidelines that the Court follow</p><p>The topic on spoiled identity also had a lot to learn whereby people actually internalises labels that we gave them n might re offend because of it.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Initially before the course started, i had preconceived opinions on what content the course would cover - mainly being how crime was dealt with in different parts of the world.</p><p><br/></p><p>To my surprise however, it actually went much deeper into criminological theories that helped me to understand how root believes and ideas evolved and modernised over time to keep up with society.</p>]]></description>

After attending this course, I learn to think about the purpose of punishments and understand how it affects society as a whole and logically.  Overall, this module gave me a better insight on the different types of punishment, how and where they should be applied as well as societal views of stigma that tend to hinder judgments. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>CJS is quite fair that they consider intention behind the crime, etc they give lower sentencing if the offender don't truly unds the gravity of their crime, but can also backfire when some ppl "accidentally" kill a person after years of abuse. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Crime don’t always have to lead to traditional punishments, punishments don’t always mean that justice is served, and having a fair justice system don’t necessarily lower or remove crime. </p><p><br/></p><p>I used to naively think the relationship between the 3 were straightforward but this course has broaden my horizon. Nowadays I look at everyday objects and systems and find myself pondering about the concepts I learnt in this course. From simple streetlights to deliberate signs at the Singapore customs (Plain clothes police on patrol), most things contribute to heightened safety and security. </p>]]></description>

Therefore, we should view this issue from a multifaceted lens and not from a one dimensional one</p></li><li><p>I learnt that the daily interactions with people can also lead to the perpetuation of stigma.
