I am planning to look at the curriculum and start with one unit at a time to incorporate PBL. It is my goal that students will be able to apply the math knowledge that they have learned over time and new concepts through their choice of assignment.

PBL supports the Profile of the SC Graduate in allowing students not just to memorize required knowledge that is connected to a specfic state standard. Students are exposed to persue deeper understandings of a concept that they are interested in while learning other valuable life skills such as collaboration, time managment, cooperation, decision making and even self evaluations. One goal is to help other teachers along with myself in tackling interdisciplinary units with the goal of one day becoming multidiscinplinary. ELA is a great jumping off point to connect Social Studies as well as Math is to Science. This past year I worked on developing historical fiction of the Holocaust along with a variety of different literary resources.
