As a social studies teacher I feel PBL will turn more of the learning over to the students versus being given the answer in advance. It make them become Indiana Jones.  As a coach I can set the framework and they fill in the blanks.

Students are exposed to persue deeper understandings of a concept that they are interested in while learning other valuable life skills such as collaboration, time managment, cooperation, decision making and even self evaluations. One goal is to help other teachers along with myself in tackling interdisciplinary units with the goal of one day becoming multidiscinplinary. ELA is a great jumping off point to connect Social Studies as well as Math is to Science.
