For many, there is a certain tranquility living in the countryside. It provides a peaceful and quite life away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The countryside also boasts some of the most beautiful aspects of nature. The countryside is blessed with beautiful valleys, large areas of green land and beautiful animals running free, something the city could only dream of. 

2. Definitely so. In today's day and age I personally couldn't imagine leaving it all to go off to the countryside with a man. However, keeping in mind the time and place that this poem was written, "the beloved' would be crazy to say no. Through his writing the shepherd promises the woman a comfortable life and goes on to describe this life, a peaceful one, where they are surrounded by nature in all it's glory. By the end of the poem, it is no secret to everyone else that the writer is truly, madly, deeply, in love with 'the beloved'. He offers her everything good, surely because he only wants the best for her. How then, could she possibly say no? When he is ever so ready to give her to world. It's quite romantic really, the kirtle especially.

The countryside has a change of scenery as you will be surrounded by miles of greenery, as oppose to big buildings in the city. There’s also less pollution in the countryside from less cars and public transport so the air feels fresh. Since the population in the countryside is much less compared to the city areas, you can also develop a friendship with all the other villagers easily and can create a sort of community feeling.

2. Yes, I think ‘the beloved’ would’ve accepted the shepherd’s offer as the countryside offers a peaceful lifestyle, away from politics and deafening sounds of cars passing by. As written in the poem, the shepherd not only promises her a picture of a utopian world of them together, he also promises an idyllic life he wishes she desired. The countryside is a very peaceful place, it is very suitable for people who had just retire to live. At the countryside, you'll rarely see quarrel's happen between humans and heavy vehicles comes and goes . Every morning you could listen to the birds chirping and rooster crowing. During the afternoons, you could spare some time feeding the birds on your tree, the chicken and chick's at your backyard or maybe you could even do some gardening at your "little garden" at the front of your house. On the evenings without the hot and sizzling sun, it is nice to go out of your house and do some exercise or go for a walk to get some fresh air and take a look at the beutiful scenery of the sunset. Sitting down chilling while watching the scenery of the sunset, could help you to release your stress temporarily. At the country side, u can do lots of fun and relaxing activities without making any trouble and you can have all the freedom you want.

2. No, I think "the beloved" Wouldn't agree to the shepherd's offer. A girl with only a very young age, wouldn't want to go to the country side to live.  Every girl has her own dreams, why would a girl give up her own dreams and move to the country side with the shepherd? If the shepherd did not keep his own promise by taking care of her properly, the girl would be homeless at the country side. Girls are very precious in their own family, whose parents would want their own daughter to move to the country side, because of the shepherd?

  • The countryside is filled with wide, green valleys and rolling hills. It's very peaceful and quiet. The air is fresh and the wind is breezy. As the countryside is far away from the bright lights of the city, the night sky is clear and we are able to see the gleaming stars. With a big land, you would be able to rear animals such as chickens or horses. In addition to that, the countryside lifestyle is much more slow-paced which can bring many positive health outcomes.

This is because the shepherd promises her many things such as 'a thousand fragrant posies' and 'a gown made of the finest wool' if she accepts his offer. He is promising her a peaceful life in the countryside where they can enjoy the scenery together and he can give her anything she wishes for, which would probably touch 'the beloved' and prove his commitment to her.  I also think 'the beloved' would accept his offer because the countryside lifestyle was deemed ideal during the time period when this poem was written.

There's a vast difference between living in the busy city life and the countryside. I think living in the countryside could provide some quiet and peaceful time from the busy life we have. With the beauty of nature and the peaceful scenery it can have a profound effect in our lives. In the countryside you would be surrounded by miles of greenery, valleys and hills as oppose to the big skyscrapers and offices in the city. Escaping to a rural area can also bring a lot of benefits like the fresh air that is not polluted and the good access to more natural and healthy food that you can never get in the city.

Living in the countryside sure does have a lot of wonderful attraction compared to living in the city with totally different auras and situation. For example , in the countryside there must be filled with bunch of beautiful nature such as colourful healthy trees , flowers and a clean stream. I find this very calming as we could always enjoy the breeze of the wind  and fresh airs with admiring the beautiful scenery of mountains and skies without facing any distraction or any crowded areas as it could be very calm and therapeutic for some people to enjoy. Not only that , living in the countryside would also be beneficial to get fresh supplies of meat and vegetables as many would plant different types of vegetables on their land and could also easily get meat by hunting the farm animals there. These supplies of food are probably safer and healthier than what we could get in the city.

The things the shepherd would do would make her feel very special and loved that could lead to having full trust on living with him.
