<title>Edmodo has made the teachers formative assessment instantaneous and current to the children&#39;s work and thoughts process. She can see on the day as they are submitting their work where the difficulties lie and give them feedback to correct and modify their work.It saves the teachers bringing home piles of copybooks and for children having to wait for days for feedback on their work.</title>

<title>I think I could use these online tools for children to complete both class work and homework. It will give them another platform to produce, assess and display their work.Children for the most part love using computers and technology so it will increase their motivation.I think in particular it will help to encourage build on and keep a steady open communication between school and home.</title>

<title>Children would need to be carefully taught and guided throughout the set up of their ePortfolio.I think in the first year I would limit the ePortfolio to a couple of subjects as we have limited access to laptops and iPads so I would prefer them to do some subjects well and get a good foundation in developing an ePortfolio rather than having bits of subjects half done!Encouragement and feedback would be necessary also.</title>

I have learned a great deal on this course and look forward to trying some of the fantastic tools and resources outlined in the different modules.I am looking forward to sharing many of the learning pathways with colleagues in different class levels also. Thanks to Dermot for being a great e Tutor.Enjoy what is left of the holidays everyone! Permalink | Show parentSee this post in context17IEFA161 -&gt; Module 5 - Reflective Learning Activity -&gt; Module 5 - Reflective Learning Activity -&gt; Re: Module 5 - Reflective Learning Activityby Maeve Clancy - Sunday, 20 August 2017, 5:20 PM Reflecting on the course content and your Learning Record, describe what were the key learning points of the course for you.The key learning points of this course for me wereLearning about the vast array of online tools that can be used in both teaching and assessment in my class.Eportfolios are something I have never used so will be keen to try them out.The importance of teaching children internet safetyThe prevalence of copyright breaches when using images for educational purposes and how there are many safe websites to use instead of just google images! All the different ways ICT can be used for both teacher and self assessmentHow will this knowledge be applied to your teaching when you return to school in September?I plan on implementing ePortfolios in at least once subject as I will only have access to tablets once a week. I plan on assessing how many parents will have access at home to a tablet or laptop to see how I can further develop the use of ICT in assessment in my class to assess the level of support I will have from home, if I can roll out a homework folder/class notes/news folder as a whole class system. What are the main challenges that you need to be prepared for? The main challenges for me personally would be availability of ICT resources in my class to implement ePortfolios correctly including resources at home to create strong home school links. I would also need to get the other teachers on board for doing something similar as we would usually plan together. How will you deal with these challenges?I would be interested in holding meetings at the start of the school year to show parents/colleagues how an eportfolio would be used and how it would be very useful in seeing how their children are progressing and how a homework folder would save on paper and provide a great incite into work their children are doing and be an effective communication tool. What are your next steps in relation to the use of ICT in your classroom? The  next step for me will be exploring further some of the fantastic resources I have learned about on this course such as Edmodo and ScoilNet Learning pathways. Sum of ratings: - Permalink | Show parentSee this post in context17IEFA161 -&gt; Module 5 - Forum Assignment -&gt; Module 5 - Forum Assignment -&gt; Re: Module 5 - Forum Assignmentby Maeve Clancy - Sunday, 20 August 2017, 4:56 PM Copyright on imagesClass Level: 1stCurricular Area/s: SPHE/ScienceDesired Learning OutcomesChildren will gain an understanding of how photos/pictures belong to the person that created themChildren will gain an incite into websites that offer royalty/copyright free and safe images to use in school projectsChildren will find copyright free safely sourced images to accompany a diagram of the lifecycle of a frogHow the topics will be addressed or implementedA whole class activity will be done on the lifecycle of the frog.In groups children will draw pictures to accompany posters based on the life cycle of a frog. They will put their names on the posters. We will discuss how the posters belong to the people in the group that created them and no one else would be able to say they did the work etc. This will lead into a discussion on copyright. We will explore images on creative commons, photosfor class and pixabay and will discuss how they can be used without permission from the creator. For homework children will have to source four copyright free images to accompany a simple diagram of the life cycle of a frog. There will be a parent information sheet on copyright free images in their homework folder to explain to parents the content we are covering at present. Cyber bulling is so prevalent nowadays it is extremely important that school creates as much awareness for the children on the seriousness of it.Snapchat, Instagram and other forms of social media are often the main methods of communication in the evenings between children in the class so it is so important that they know what is appropriate and not appropriate means of communicating and the consequences of their actions.I think Vickys story MySelfie is a great resource on webwise and will be using it when I have a Senior Class. Sum of ratings: 1 (1) Permalink | Show parentSee this post in context17IEFA161 -&gt; Module 4 - Forum Assignment -&gt; Module 4 - Forum Assignment -&gt; Re: Module 4 - Forum Assignmentby Maeve Clancy - Sunday, 20 August 2017, 4:25 PM ConorI really enjoyed your learning path. The resources in my learning path will then be further explored through the following ways;1. Butterfly explanation book: This will be used for a group of children with SEN as it has an audio voice over of the written words in the explanation of the lifecycle of the butterfly.2. Lifecycle on butterfly information. Children will study this page in groups when they are doing an sequencing and writing activity based on the lifecyle of the butterfly.3. Video on the lifecycle of a butterfly: This YouTube video will provide visual imagery of the content they are learning and they can re-watch it at home during the week as it will be in their homework folder on google drive.4. LIfecycle of a butterfly game: This interactive game will be used at the end of the lesson to assess in a fun way what the children have learned and to see can they sequence the different stages of the lifecycle of the butterfly.5. Butterfly butterfly song: This song will be integrated into my music lesson the week the class is studying the lifecycle of a butterfly. I will include it on google drive along with their homework so they can practise it at home. It is a fun and audio visual way for the children to revise what they have been learning in the class.Class Level 1st ClassCurricular Area/s SESE Science LIving Things Sum of ratings: 2 (1) Permalink | Show parentSee this post in context17IEFA161 -&gt; Module 3 - Forum Assignment -&gt; Module 3 - Forum Assignment -&gt; Re: Module 3 - Forum Assignmentby Maeve Clancy - Friday, 18 August 2017, 8:02 PM Class Level  1stCurricular Area: English literacy; phonics.Desired Learning OutcomesThe children can find safe images online to accompany initial consonant blend words. The children will be able to save copyright free images in their folder on google drive. The children can showcase their final work on the school blog to family and peers.Resources Needed: IWB, tablets/laptops, google docs, class blogClassroom Management / OrganisationWhole Class-Lesson will begin on identifying a list of words beginning with initial consonant blends.Groups -Children will be given a folder in Google drive to work on (named with their own specific consonant blendsThey will be asked to come up with as many words as they can that start with that consonant blend, they will then record these words on the table created by teacher on google docs and saved in their folder. I have worked in the Junior End of schools for many years and I find there is a lot of photocopying done of notes and lists of homework, games, ideas etc. Google Docs would dramatically decrease the need to photocopy as many pages and parents could pick and choose themselves if certain pages needed to be printed or they may be happy just to have them accessible online. At present I am teaching in a DEIS school and not all parents would have access to resources to engage on a whole class level but in previous schools I have worked in I see how it would be extremely useful. Sum of ratings: 1 (1) Permalink | Show parentSee this post in context17IEFA161 -&gt; Module 1 - Forum Assignment -&gt; Module 1 - Forum Assignment -&gt; Re: Module 1 - Forum Assignmentby Maeve Clancy - Wednesday, 16 August 2017, 8:54 PM Stating how the ICT tool will be used for assessment  -The ICT tools I would use are the IWB and ipads(padlet)At the beginning of the topic I would show the children pictures of a variety of objects on the IWB.
