After winning the Seven Years war the colonists were more united. They began spotting weaknesses in British military forces and structure. This all lead to a change of attitude from both sides, the colonists feeling strong together and the British finding courage to take control over their colonies.

The colonists were willing to obey the British when they weren't trying to enforce the Navigation Laws and Mercantilism. During this period of Salutary Neglect the colonists were used to this relatively free life style in which they could trade with who ever. Before the year 1763 the colonists were still willing to pay taxes to the motherland which wasn't interfering. Due to the War and the impending debt left behind the British Parliament wanted to tax them to repay for the military force in which many colonists participated in which led to changes in attitude and relationships.

Seeing that the acts were created in order to establish funds for the British. As a result, the colonists became aggravated and found themselves going against the British in order to find a sense of liberty and freedom. Resulting in the British reacting to the colonists, which in turn worsened the relations between the colonists and England.
