When we die, we will be remembered for 2 maybe 3 generations at most. There will be a time in the future where no human on earth will ever know who you were. For example, think of your great great grandparents. There's a 99% chance you don't know their names, what they looked like or anything about them. If you'd know anything, it would be their name. A person's name is their identity, and is what lets people recognize them. Some questions I have about this is I kind of understand how the tiger and it's skin relates to this but not fully.

Similar to how tigers are known for their unique skin, as humans we have our names. In the same way that the tiger skin is unique for them, our names are unique as humans. There aren't any animals or insects that provide names for themselves or their children, but it is something that humans do. In relation to the tiger skin, they are all similar but are individual to the tiger while human names are similar but each has their own meaning.

- I agree with the comments that mention that names are a sort of legacy for us since it is not something physical, but it is something that can be passed on through generations. Due to this, there is more significance to a person's name because it is lived up to and then passed down.

I've once read a book. It talks about how people are still "alive" when people still remembers them. However, when no one alive can still remember them, that's when you really died and go away with the wind. The question here is how can you leave your name and "live" as long as you can. The name here doesn't only represent your legacy, your ancestor, but also your contribution. Because a lot of people share the same name, it is your contribution which makes you be remembered forever.

-I think I forgot to talk about the tigers here. The tiger skin shows who they once were. However, skins will rot eventually, and become part of the cycle, wait for more leaders. For human being, one day we will all be forgotten, however, we made some changes when we are still alive, that's how we will be remembered by the earth, the sky and the wind.

To me, I chose this quote because I feel like there's a deeper meaning to this. I think when it says "people die and leave their names", it means that whether someone has done something good or bad, these people have done something important to be remembered by others. When the writer was writing this quote, maybe he wanted us to remember the importance and why someone is significant or why we shall remember them when they pass but my question that this quote raised for me was I'm not too sure was tigers dying and leaving their skins mean so in what way would the tiger connect to people dying? Maybe their both similar things but I couldn't figure that one out
-Lynle

This quotation as it has great significance in relation to the legacy and power which names withhold. Everyone's name is a story of their life and their achievements. This quote talks about being remembered through yourself. I would not like to be commemorated using a false name.

I agree with a lot of these comments as multiple mention legacy. Names have power and create identities for different people. Everyone strives to be their own person and if that ability is taken away, it is unknown who they are in the world. These celebrities discuss these circumstances.

I agree with that quote that some ppl are categorizing because of their names which is kinda dumb since it feels like you can't get a fresh start bc of some name that you fell upon on.

“Tigers die and leave their skins; people die and leave their names.” —Japanese proverb

- I agree with this comment. Our contribution to the world is the true legacy that stays from us. People recall us by our name and remember us by who we was behind that name.
