One example of the "snake" representing Harry's personality is when Harry takes his anger out on Ganderbai. "'Why you dirty little sewer rat!' 'Shut up, Harry!' I said. 'You dirty black---'" (Dahl 345). This shows that Harry is a racist person. Snakes have a reputation of being cruel, so the snake resembles Harry for being cruel. The snake could also represent Harry because he wore striped pajamas, and Kraits also have stripes.

The snake, which symbolizes Harry and his toxic personality, is introduced after the exposition when the narrator comes home and finds him with a "snake" on his stomach. Harry is extremely stressed about a snake that is found to not even be existent. When Doctor Ganderbai comes to visit, Harry is rude to him just because of his ethnicity. This shows that he has a cruel and cold personality, just like snakes are usually portrayed to have.

Another way the snake in the story resemble Harry, is introduced towards the end of the story. When the doctor and the narrator take off the sheet, they find no snake, no krait. because of this, the "snake" can resemble the element of deceit. at this point of the story, the reader doesn't know if there even was a snake in the first place. because of this deception, we can now conclude that the "snake" was technically Harry.

in another part of the text,"The whole of Harry's chest was visible now, or rather the striped pajama top which covered it, and then I saw the white cord of his pajama trousers, neatly tied in a bow." (Dahl 345). `As for the picture below, we can see that a krait has a striped pattern on its body. This past quote explains harry's style of pajamas, that is, "striped". Because of this foreshadowing, we can safely conclude that the snake symbolizes harry personality.
