He is ten years old and moves from orphanage from orphanage from foster home to foster home. In the 1st chapter he says all the kids are lined up and a caseworker come and tapped everyone then stopped at Bud.Then went a little further and stopped at another boy named Jerry.
       He thought someone was going to get paddled. But then realized he and Jerry were going to a foster family .As the lady explained what would happen Bud stared to look glum. A few moments later they went back to the room to get their things. As he was talking to Jerry he stared thinking about the age 6,how your teeth commence and fall out,and your tough won`t stop playing in the whole doggoned. After the death of his Bud is moved to a foster home/orphanage.When he is 10 he is adopted by the Amos family.Their son Todd Amos torchers and hearses Bud and keeps calling him Buddy.
   Even thought he knows nothing about his father Bud is determined to find him. Before she died Bud`s mother left some clues,flyers advertising Herman E. Calloway and his famous band, the Dusky Devastators of the great Depression !!!!!!!
