The Dakota Pipeline is a 1,172 mile pipeline that connects states with crude oil so it can be transported to refineries along the gulf. The Rock Sioux Native American tribe is protesting because they say it threatens their land.  

• The pipe line is in the US and goes through South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa and Illinois. It also goes through Fort Berthold  and Standing Rock Indians Reservations .

The Rock Sioux Native Americans are very unhappy with where the pipeline is. They say that it's would go over sacred ground which would be very disturbing. 

• A Rock Sioux representative says that the pipeline would fuel climate change and would cause unknown damage to the environment. He also states could disturb native lands and their way of life.

Trump's View:
Trump wants to conduct oil trade with other countries and to keep oil prices down. A lot of the youth have been apart of protests, online and in real life. 

Using social media can be a good and a bad thing to try and protest. It can spread the word of the protests a lot faster than word of mouth. Some challenges may be  how negative social media usually is and how much hate it can get.

It would bring so many jobs and opportunities to the US that it would be a huge benefit. It will create jobs, bring oil directly to the US, and begin trade with other countries.
