He was a genuine, down to earth funny person who cared so much for all of his students. And a great teacher,! Thank you so much for your service both in the Army and as a teacher.

As a parent volunteer in Guidance I was at the Guidance reception desk often. Anytime Mr. Zunic would walk by last year he would always stop by, chat, and was so friendly. I remember hoping my 9th grader would get him this year for History. He had such a positive attitude and was always so kind and welcoming. May he rest in peace.

My favorite memories are our "Hey Boss" conversations where Mr. Zunic would come in with a question about school and we would wind up talking and laughing about New York and both coming from Long Island and understanding how we spoke and why we spoke with such passion!!!

My name is Molly McCleary. I am a sophomore at Marvin and I was lucky enough to have Mr. Zunic for World History 4th block, during my freshman year. I dont know where to begin. He was the best teacher I've ever had. He was kind and caring, an amazing story teller, and he knew how to make you understand the material. Some memories I have with him are eating lunch in his classroom everyday and talking the whole time. I sat in there for A and B lunch and he would always listen to every word of what I had to say. He always tried to help in anyway he could. I also always played 4 square outside which was very fun. Another memory I have of Mr. Zunic was how he could always tell if you were having a bad day, and he would let you put your head down and relax for the class period. Finally, as a gift to end the semester, me and some of my friends got him this sweater that he would wear on many occasions after. One of my good friends Nadia, also gave him a sewn tapestry type object that she made in school, with his favorite phrase engraved. "Negative Ghost Rider." Mr. Zunic was such an extraordinary guy and I will always remember him as my favorite teacher. He impacted me in so many ways, and inspired me to be the best version of myself. I miss him very much but I hope he has found everlasting peace and happiness.

I had Mr. Zunic as my first block teacher in freshman year, 2018. He was one of the only teachers I have ever had that truly cared for each student and worked with them through anything that made them struggle.
My favorite memory with him has to be on one of the first few days of school. He showed us all his gas mask that he had in his classroom but we were all freshmen and too nervous to ask to try it on so he put it on himself. He was trying to connect with us student since we were all so new to the school, since it was his first year there too. It truly shows how caring he was of his students and trying to be friendly in order to make us all comfortable together. I took that time for granted with him. With that being said, he was still and will forever be my favorite teacher in my high school career.

I met Mr. Zunic in the fall of 2018 when he joined Marvin Ridge High School. I remember his selflessness, how willing he was to help others, and do whatever needed to be done. Another thing that I loved about him was how respectfully he always treated people. He always said, "Yes ma'am" or "Yes sir" when talking to others.

I was a student of Mr. Zunic's freshman world history honors course this year. One day, while I was home (I think it was on a Monday or Tuesday) when he said something along the lines of "unleashing the Kraken" it stuck to me. So I typed in the chat "TIME TO FIGHT THE KRAKEN" and he chuckled and said "Who was that? You a Percy Jackson fan? You really like the Kraken". From then on, until I got moved to a different class, he said at the end of the meeting, "I unleash the Kraken, good luck fighting, soldier." It really stuck to me because none of my other teacher were ever this lighthearted and funny, and made me always laugh at the end of class while screaming to my house "MY TEACHER TOLD ME TO GO FIGHT A KRAKEN" . I don't think I'll ever forget that.

I never had the privilege of having Mr. Zunic as a teacher, but I remember having a tough day and waiting in the guidance suite crying and he came in and gave me a hug and spoke some very inspiring words to me. Ever since that day, he made a point to say hello to me in the halls. He was a great guy, may he rest in peace.

Mr. Zunic was one of the most selfless people I knew. He always made sure that I knew I could talk to him about anything and that he was always there for me.

I remember him vividly, almost as if it was yesterday... he was my freshman World History teacher two years ago, and I can't even begin to describe the impact he had on me. He gave me the realest experience in any class I've ever had, and he was just so himself. He would sometimes explode with rage, throwing textbooks on the floor in the middle of a test because we didn't do our homework well enough, but that just showed how he meant everything he did, he didn't hide anything. So the times he was kind, the times he was compassionate, you knew it wasn't fake, you knew he meant everything he said and did. When I saw him in the hallways, he knew me, he was always so caring for the well-being and success of everyone. He wasn't afraid to have fun with his students, picking on someone for the whole semester. Everyone knew he was having fun... Mr. Zunic, I hope you can see me, and I hope you see how all of your students achieve great things. You will be missed greatly, and I am excited for the day I can see you again face-to-face... thanks for everything you did, and may you rest in peace.

I had Mr. Zunic as my fourth block world history teacher in freshman year. I am a junior now, and I can't imagine not having him as my teacher. Our class could be a handful, which truly shows his patience and how he was able to relate to us. He was always telling stories and made a point to make all of us feel welcome and unique. He was always there for me when I needed help, and I would often come to his room during freshman and sophomore year for Smart Lunch to talk and catch up. He truly treated us like individuals and not just students, preparing us for what was to come in high school and the real world. Whenever I saw him in the hallway he would always stop to talk to me, and he really knew how to connect to everybody. He would always be the first person I asked about about Girl Scout cookies because I knew how much he loved them. My favorite memory from class was when we did our "Do Nows", because we would always end up having lively conversations and learning so much more than just world history. I will miss Mr. Zunic so much, and I am forever grateful for the impact he has had on my life.

I had Mr. Zunic last semester and he understood how I felt about anxiety. He put my mind at ease and helped me through my freshman year.

Scott was so proud to show me his classrooms and would talk about his students all the time. We would often run into them when eating dinner out or running errands around town. Both Scott and his students would always have smiles on their faces and there was always a connection. He truly loved what he did and he will watch over you all.

I had Mr. Zunic for the first term and half of the second term this year. I didn’t really get to know him very well but he was definitely a good teacher because he made sure we were engaged and doing well in his class as well as check to see if he was assigning to much work every once in a while and then on his last call he actually apologized for not being able to teach us the rest of the semester which really showed how he cared about his job as a teacher on a much more personal level

I had Mr.Zunic last year for my fourth block class and he was one of the most amazing teachers I have ever had. He was one of the kindest people you could ever meet. He was always there for you and he was one of the most caring teachers I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He will be forever missed.

Mr. Zunic was a wonderful, supportive, and kind colleague. I'm grateful to have been able to work alongside of him for the past two years. He was flexible with students who needed it, and had a special knack for working with our youngest students. It is truly amazing to see the incredible relationships he built with them. Mr. Scott was my families best friend. I remember when we went to a restaurant one time and we were talking, he asked my opinion about something, I told him I didn’t want to because he wouldn’t like it, so he told me “I like the harsh truth better than a good lie.” I appreciated him because I knew everything he said was true. I loved his honesty.

Mr. Zunic was so unbelievable helpful. DAILY he'd stop by the office to ask if we needed help with anything. He was willing to do anything that was needed. No request was too big or too small. We texted over the last few weeks and I'm so impressed with his faith and his courage. To say that he is and will be missed is such an understatement, but it's so very true.

He always would make time to make sure we were successful in his class. Whenever I wouldn’t understand something he would come in extra early so I could get help understanding a topic. He cared so much for each and every student he had. He always made sure he knew everyone’s names and interests. He genuinely cared about our life outside of school.

I remember it always made me kinda laugh when Mr. Zunic made his underwater basket weaving comments. I remember I was laughing so hard one day because he told us a kid the class before asked what he had against underwater basket weaving and he went on a whole rant about it and it was super funny. Later I found out the kid he was talking about was actually my friend Gavin and we laughed about it

Although I never had you as a teacher, my friends and I always came to your classroom last year during Smart Lunch. You were always so welcoming towards us, and really took the time to get to know every one of us, even though it was just Smart Lunch. The amount of life stories that you have told me were extremely helpful. Everytime I was feeling down, you always had a story to go with it, and they were extremely helpful. So thank you, Mr. Zunic.

I will always remember Mr. Zunic and everything he did for me. I had him freshman year for world history and he literally changed the way I looked at things. He was like no other teach I had ever had before. Instead of teaching from a book he invested himself into getting us to think for ourselves. Instead of taking notes we would have class conversations about the history event and he would challenge what we would say as a way to teach us both views. I still remember the day he marched us from the classroom to the office and said we would all be written up but he instead took us outside to watch the tennis tournament. This shows how much he cared about us and I am so grateful for every moment I had with him. I even remember him facetiming his french girlfriend during class and asking me how to say I love you in french. He was not afraid to show his emotions and how much he cared. He is a teacher I will never forget and I thank him for his service to our country and to us his students.

Scott was a like a dad to me and I loved him very much. I enjoyed all the times we had together when I was growing up and yes he is the reason why I passed my World History Regents. He loved talking about his family, yankees, steelers, his time in the service, and of course teaching.

It was evident how very much Scott loved his family by his comments and obvious concern for his mom and sister. We had the chance to see how much he loved and cared for Diana when she visited Marvin Ridge with him. They took time to work gate duty together, and we saw how radiant and joyful he was in her presence. We send our love and most sincere sympathy to his loved ones.

Mr. Zunic was my teacher for freshman year world history and he was the best teacher I think one could ever have he was such a caring person and was not strict at all he would always tell us his war story’s and his different adventures as a kid and growing up Mr. Zunic would always let tons of people into his classroom during smart lunch and he would ask everyone in the class if they wanted a price of candy we would surround his desk just talking to him and asking him questions I looked up to him as a person well as many others after school I would sometimes just go talk to him and the second I entered his room he would have a big smile on his face and was so happy to see me it would make me feel cared for and genuinely make me happy I still don’t believe he is really gone it doesn’t even seem real I feel like he taught me not to let the little things in life bother you and just to roll with it he was an unbelievable person his character stood out to me he left an impact on me R.I.P Mr. Zunic you will be missed greatly Thank you so much for being there you truly are a hero

I am so happy I visited Mr. Zunic in his classroom earlier this semester. He greeted me with an elbow shake due to these trying times, then invited me into his classroom. The freshman were taking their test about Athens and Sparta which was one of my favorite units from last year. Mr. Zunic asked me how I was doing and gave me some candy, just like old times. I am so unbelievably happy I was able to see him one last time. The greatest teacher of all time.

Scott and I shared a classroom last year. I learned so much about history and the military from the stories he shared, and of course he always made me laugh. I witnessed the love of teaching and learning he shared with his students. And they loved him right back.

I worked with Mr. Zunic closely as he taught many of the students I support. They loved him. He connected and cared and laughed with them. He understood their needs and their learning styles and he always told me he’d do whatever he needed to do to help them learn and be successful. The students he taught will be better and kinder because of him. Your students will carry what you’ve taught them throughout their lives. You made an impact. You will be missed.

I will be forever grateful to Mr. Zunic for how he has impacted my life, the lives of my loved ones and our school community. First, by introducing me to Diana, he gave me the gift of her friendship which I will cherish. I always enjoyed passing him in the hallways where he eagerly practiced his French with me. His face would light up as he greeted me with "Bonjour, Madame"...he was so proud of himself! I am thankful that one of my children had the wonderful experience of having him as a teacher. Scott was a caring and compassionate teacher. He loved his students and was a passionate teacher. The students at CATA and Marvin Ridge loved his classes and had a special bond with him. Students knew him well and learnt from his experiences.

I was his colleague for six years and got to know him from our conversations at CATA and MRHS. He genuinely cared about his colleagues and always willing to help. He will be sorely missed.
