This is a chapter book that includes several illustrations. This is the appropriate chapter book for children who are just beginning to show interest in reading longer texts. It is a story about dolls who come alive; it specifically focuses on Annabelle who is a doll who has been eight-years-old for more than one hundred years. Her life is pretty boring until a new doll family moves in next door. This book is appropriate for second grade through secondary age children. The text is more complex, so children may experience some difficulties depending on their age.

This book would be read in order to teach children that we need to choose kindness and accept other people's differences. I think that this text is moderately complex and that it is mostly appropriate for first through third grade classrooms. Children sometimes have a difficult time understanding others and how the differences of others may effect them. By reading this book, children will have a better understanding of how to handle certain situations and to choose to be kind above all else. Even though not every child has experienced physical differences (which is what this book mainly focuses on), they still have burdens that they may carry around with them every day.

The reader sees a little girl named Abigail get bullied when she is at her swimming lessons. When her swimming instructor tells her that she can change her mindset and start thinking differently about herself, she begins to feel better about herself. This is a very complex text because the meaning and story line. The illustrations help some, but not enough for children to grasp the seriousness of the content. This book is geared toward children who are overweight or have similar characteristics to Abigail. They begin to understand the seriousness of bullying and see that they can achieve a positive mindset. This text is appropriate for second through fifth grade children.

The little girl is afraid that her family won't be a family any more because of this. However, they still manage to spend time together.
