The cartoon shows how the children were suffering from child labor and how they were unhappy. In the cartoon they are crying because they got physically abused for errors/ coming late to work. The factory in the cartoon is surrounded by trash, representing that the factories in the Industrial Revolution brought trash to the are and used the resources. The factories ruined the environment that they were built in.

The 4th restriction (For more than 18 hours in any school week) was put into Ohio' s Child Labor laws because children during the Industrial Revolution would not have anytime to go to school because they would be working for 16 hours a day. That law exists today so that students who chose to work have enough time for school and are not overworked.

The 2nd restriction ( After 11 p.m. on any night preceding a day that school is in session) was put into place so that students would not be exhausted for school the next day. It is enforced so that places of business can not have minors working too many hours that cause them to be exhausted and making mistakes because of it. During the Industrial Revolution, the minors working would have roughly 6 hours of sleep and because of that they made more errors. Those errors could lead them to be physically punished or even killed depending on the job in the factory.

The 6th prohibition ( Cooking and baking; operating, setting up, adjusting, cleaning, oiling or repairing power-driven food slicers, grinders, food choppers, cutters, bakery type mixers) is enforced to protect the safety of minors. Workers in the Industrial Revolution were killed in factories because they were doing unsafe jobs and this law makes sure that no minors are put into that position anymore.
