They also had their fun with pulling pranks on one another and making jokes. Louie and the crew soon had there first mission while driving the plane they called "Superman", On December 23, 1942 they bombed the Japanese.

While being in Funafuti a bomb ended up destroying a church luckily nobody was inside of the church that was destroyed. The plane they call "Superman" saved almost all of his crew members besides one member of the crew which soon later that crew member that passed was later replaced by six new men says this in, "The Superman survivors were transferred to the 42nd squadron of the 11th Bomb Group. Six new men replaced the lost crewmen" (91). Sadly both Louie and Phil sank into depression.
