It is a medium-sized butterfly that reaches a wingspan of 5 cm. Physically, their body is big, and it is between 59 y 85 centimetres long. Their tail is width and sharp, and it is between 25 y 60 cm long.

Their legs are short and they have a tissue between the toes.

They fur is very thick and impermeable providing insulation in cold water. Its colour is dark brown but grey in the belly. Otters have a dirty white fur in their neks.

Male otters are often bigger than the female ones, but they vary in size depending on the species: the smallest otter can weight 3 kilos while the largest can weigh 45 kilos. As an interesting fact, otters are known for their playful behaviour, like juggling small rocks and playing games with each other.

Otters live in wet habitats. We can find or see otters in fresh or salty waters, in some coasts and rivers and even in lakes and marshlands.

Otters eat fish but they sometimes eat some molluscs, crustaceans, amphibians, reptiles, insects and small mammals too.

Totally, there are about 300.000 specimen of otters around the world, specially in Russia, Alaska, California and Oregon.

In Galicia, we can see otters in the National park Islands, like: Sálvora, Ons and Cíes.

At the schools, for help the otters, we can collect money to stop threats and we can try to increase the number of the otters in the world by cleaning lakes, seas and rivers of rubbish.

The Iberian wolf is a subspecies of the grey wolf native to the Iberian Peninsula, primarily found in northern Spain and parts of Portugal. Characterized by its distinctive physical markings, including a white throat and dark, saddle-like patches on its back, this medium-sized predator has adapted to various habitats, from mountainous regions to forests.

Iberian wolves primarily feed on large ungulates such as deer and wild boar.

Currently, there will be 2,500 species of Iberian wolf left.

What we can do to help is the same as always, it happens with all animals, we don't have to throw papers on the floor, save more energy and, above all, take care of the animals.

His face is small, with black and white colours, tiny eyes and a very little nose located in his beak. It has a very long black neck and a big fluffy brown body finished in a black and long tail. His body is filled with a ton of multiple feathers of various colours like black, grey or brown.

The White Headed Duck lives in aquatic habitats, like for example lakes, rivers or sometimes even lagoons. It lives in countries of the Palaearctic like: Russia, China, Mongolia... Or in more specific places in Morocco, Algeria, Turkey or Spain.

Like the most part of ducks, it usually eats vegetation, like seeds, underwater plants, Najas Marina or some insect larvae too.

Sadly, there are only around two hundred White-headed Ducks left in Spain, that isn't a lot. And that's why we must try to raise awareness in the schools from all the country, give talks about this specie, try to do not throw rubbish to the oceans and rivers, raise money to save it or even make pacific manifestations to save and protect the White-headed Ducks and their respective habitats. We should try to save endangered species around the whole world.

The European mink

The European mink is a small mamall in dangerous of extinction, now are a litle population of this animals. Those animals lives from España to the Ural Mountains.

This mamall is like a cat but it is more long, it have got a white spot in the mouth. The males weigh 900gr and measure 55 cm and the fermale 500gr and 45cm.

It's different of the American mink because the American mink haven't got the spot in the mouth and this mink is darker than the European mink.

It lives in the rivers and lakes, in the lower part of the river about 1500 meters over the sea.

In Espain those animals live in rivers like the river Ebro or The Rioja with a lot of plants and vegetation.

It eat a lot of things fishes, litle mamalls and birds.

The European mink population is reduced by half from the 1990 to the 2000 and now only live 142 European minks, the 95% are dead. In the school we can...

The average length of the capercaillie is 60-80 cm. It weighs between 1.5-2.5 kg. It has dark feather, with a brown colour on the head and chest, and a gold colour on the wings and tail. The beak is strong and curved. The eyes dark. The legs are strong.

The capercaillie lives in mixed forests and temperate forests, with a lot of vegetation. Prefers areas with gentle slopes and forest soils. In winter, it can move to open, cultivated areas.

Like other wild birds, the capercaillie is a consumer of vegetables, especially seeds, fruits and leaves. In general, the capercaillie is an omnivorous bird. Their diet varies depending on the season and the availability of food in their habitat.

Unfortunately, there are very few specimens of this animal left in Galicia, around 190 specimens.

Some measures that must be taken to help the capercaillie are: Restore the areas where it has disappeared, ensure the tranquillity of its habitat and increase the forest area. And furthermore, in educational centres, we can also raise people's awareness about the issue or collaborate with some organizations.

In Europe only exists in Norway, Scotland, Italy and the Iberian Peninsula. In the reast of the world there are in Asia, North America and in the North of Africa.

It is a type of bird. Its leathers are brown but in the tail are white. The beak is yellow and pointed. Its eyes are light brown. The females are bigger than the males. The females lenght about 2,3 meters and weigh between 4 and 6,75 kilograms. The males lenght between 1,8 and 2 meters and weigh between 2,9 and 4,5 kilograms.

In Spain there are more than 1500 pairs.

They feed on snakes, rabbits, foxes, mouses and also sick goats or deers.

Its habitat is the mountain or rock zones. The mountains are wild habitats with many forest and savage animals.

To help animals in danger of extinction we can:

-Plant trees or another type of plant.

-Recycle all the trash we see.

-Do presentations for our classmates to awareness them.

My animal is the brown bear.

They are big, dangerous and furry. They can live 25 years.

They have long, thick fur. They are usually a brown color. They have claws on all four paws. They have small ears, brown eyes and a short tail.

The brown bear lives in North America, Scandinavia, Syria and Eastern Europe. It also lives in the Himalayas, the Pyrenees, the Alps and the Carpathian Mountains. It likes to live in the forest and mountains.

The brown bear eats fish and mammals. They are an omnivore mammal. They also eat fruits and berries.

The weight of males can be between 150 and 230 kg. The weight of females is between 80 and 150 kg.

In the winter they hibernate.

They are mostly dangerous in autumn when they have to eat a lot before winter and if there are cubs, baby bears.

In 2020 and 2021 it is estimated that there were about 370 brown bears in Europe.

We can help the brown bear by protecting its habitat.

The appearence of this animal is small, from 12 to 38 cm. It has got a brown shell with green and yellow areas. Its weight normally is from 400 to 700 grams, but on some occasions it is possible to reach at its maximum weight, which is 1.5 kg. It has got four legs and one tail. It is an oviparous animal, too.

It is an omnivorous animal which feeds on aquatic plants, carrion and only small animals like frogs, snails, insects, small crustaceans, small fishs, etc.

The most recent data in Galician area are from 2013. These data say that there are a hundred and in the last 50 years the number of species has reduced by 84 % because the humans destroyed their habitats and contaminated them.

I think that we can help it by polluting less, with talks to raise awareness to people and eliminate the pollution of the European Galapagos habitats.

Panda's diet consists almost entirely of bamboo, making the bear mostly herbivorous but, it is a carnivorous animal.

Nowadays, there are between 500 and 1000 adult specimen in their natural habitat. But, there are others (young Pandas) that are under the attention of specialists, because they are taking care of their recovery. Pandas are still on captivity.

As a possible initiative, we can give talks to make people a ware of the Panda Bear's situation because it is an unknown topic.

This seabird is look like a penguin. It is soo cute and small. It's brown and white. It has feathers, a beak, two small eyes and two long legs. Its size is arround 40cm.

Its habitat is the coast but, the arao that existed in Galicia have disappeared and, now, we don't have species in Spain. The coast is a place near the water, for example the sea or a river. It's an amazing, beautiful, sunny and calm place.

It feeds a lot of differents small fish species, for example: the sardine, anchovies... It's catches them by putting his head in the water searching some bank of these fish.

In spain, in 1989, were only around 32 and now there aren't species. In 2021, there were only 60.000 species in all the world.

In the future, it will be dissapear if we don't do nothing for save this animal. It is dissapearing for the fishing and the contamination of the sea. Although that's a big problem, nobody is concerned for this poor bird.

I want to help it and i was think about some ways to save this animal in the highschool. It is dying for the contamination of the sea, soo we can buy bins for recycle. I thought too that we can make some posters about this animals and the danger if it has.

The axolotl comes in different colors like white, black, or even pink.

And they have these big round eyes that make them look like cartoon characters.

As a possible initiative to help this species, I can invite the FOP ( Fundación Oso Pardo) to our school. They can give us talks and we can help them with the collect.

This animal it's not dangerous, it's a reptil and it's similar to a Lizard. The Iberian Skink it's green yellow and brown.

It prefers sunny places and loose, sandy soils, with abundant low bushes and rocks. It is typical of degraded Mediterranean forest areras, mountain areas with little tree or shrub cover, and coastal areras with little relatively well-preserved native vegetation, such as dunes.

The food of this animal it's: small invertebrates, mainly beetles, spiders and centipedes, It has the ability to detach and regenerate its tail when faced with a threat.

There are approximately 1200 remaining species, to save them we can reduce the use of plastic.
