1. You can use positive psychology in your life by finding meaning in all that we do and living our life to the fullest.
2. Positive psychology is beneficial to our lives because it focuses on more everyday things, it doesn't just focus on disorders or rare illness. It encourages us to embrace the good parts of life and think critically on how we can improve it.
-
1. While I want to say I'm somewhat of a realist, I'm definitely more of an optimist. Aside from the glaring problem here that my anxiety makes me assume the worst and actually spurs lots of negative and pessimistic thoughts, I'd have to say when I'm at my mentally healthiest and coping with my anxiety well I actually, at heart, am almost too optimistic, especially for others. I encourage others and believe that they're truly good. I'm kind of an Anne Frank with crippling anxiety. I find it harder to be optimistic for myself, but it's clear that I think optimistically for others.
2. I don't agree at all with the whole childhood fosters your optimist/pessimist tendency. My childhood was very rocky and I grew up pretty isolated, right? My childhood was basically a formula for a pessimist to pop out of. Really, though, I think it fostered the opposite in me as a means to survival. I kept myself hopeful and engaged in life by being positive. If I really was pessimistic, I'd (brutal honesty) be dead. So no, childhood really wasn't an indicator, or at least as the article claimed.
3. I personally create balance between optimism and pessimism in life by coping with my anxiety. All of my optimism tends to come from my inner self, all of my pessimism tends to come from my anxiety. If I calm my anxiety to a reasonable, non-disorder level, the optimism tends to fill the gap and I'm left pretty even.
-
My thoughts on the matter is that it's a really true way to break down your identity, as self conscious as it makes you. When we just did our ideal and perceived self a few classes ago, I felt really self conscious admitting who I want to be and how I'm not. The added element of how others view you is kind of embarrassing? (Apologies, time for me to talk about my anxiety again... <del>it's like it's a big part of my life or something).</del> But my anxiety really effects how I think others see me. I just thought it was cool.

I would say that I have a optimistic life style. I always try to find the positive in every situation.
2. I do think my optimistic attitude was determined by my childhood. I was raised to see the positive in all situations, and even though something bad may occur there is always something good to come out of it or things would get better. My religious faith might bring out this current view on life. I was taught that God wouldn't give me anything I couldn't handle and he will always be there to help in my time of struggle.
3. I think I already have them balanced in my life, I know that there are bad situations and adversity will hit me multiple times in life, but I also know that positive things comes from that adversity, whether it be an oppurtunity to grow, or simply knowing that the bad situation is temporary and things will get better.

I think that everyone can connect to this as we all have our own perspectives of ourselves, we have aspirations, we ask others for their opinion about ourselves,

POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY:

1. You can use positive psychology by pursuing projects and goals bigger than yourself.
2. Positive psychology is important to our lives because understanding how to exercise it will help improve our overall happiness over time. Perhaps more importantly, it also helps to stabiise our mental states so that we know how to properly and healthily cope with less than desirable emotions when they occur.

OPTIMISM & PESSIMISM:

1. I would say that I lead a pessimistic lifestyle, though I am also rather idealistic. I tend to hope for the best outcomes and possibilities, but when worse things actually happen, my mood plummets and it negatively affects how I view everything else for awhile.
2. I agree that one's childhood fosters later optimism and pessimism, but it isn't the defining factor. I believe one's childhood interacts with their earliest temperament. One's earlier temperament may set the basis for their susceptibility to either optimism or pessimism, depending on how excitable/irritable they were. Later experiences then affect mindsets such as idealism and nihilism and those then affect how optimism and pessimism manifest. Pessimists can still be idealistic; while expecting the worst, they still hold out hope for the best, and optimists can still be optimists; while life may ultimately be pointless, that doesn't necessarily mean that you can't want something out of it as long as you're stuck with it.
3. I think I already have a fair enough balance between the two. While I am more susceptible to pessimism and negativity, my idealism stops me from feeling completely hopeless. I might expect the absolute worst, but I still think that I can minimise the coming damage, or even turn it around into success.

SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS

I think this is a relatively accurate article on how people construct themselves. I don't think it paid as much homage to the desire to mimic others that it could have, but it was briefly brought up. I at least pay more attention to traits in other people and in characters in fiction that I want and try to mimic them; I pay less conscious attention to the things others might want me to be. That's not to say other people's expectations for me have no effect at all, of course this isn't the case. But I care more about mirroring than adapting.

LOCUS OF CONTROL

We can all use positive psychology in our daily lived by finding meaning in what we do and feeling gracious for for the good things in our life.
2. Positive psychology teaches our brain to see the good in our daily lives. Practicing positive psychology and gratitude has proven to improve happiness over time.

Optimism and Pessimism:
1. I would say I generally live a pessimist life. Although I always do my best to expect good things, I am usually more realistic. I expect the worst, but I hope for the best.
2. I don't think my childhood influenced my pessimism very much. My parents are very realistic rather than optimistic, but I've been taught that it is healthier to be optimistic.
3. To create a balance, I am going to be more of a realist and see both sides of all situations.

Self-Consciousness
1.

Positive Psychology
1. We can use positive psychology in our real lives by finding the purpose of what we do in our day to day lives. We can become happier by identifying our strengths and practicing 'gratitude exercises'.
2. Positive psychology is beneficial to our lives and personalities because it helps us understand how to reach our full potential in being happy.
Optimism and Pessimism
1. I would say that I live a rather pessimistic life. Although being an optimistic person would lead to a happier life. I do try my best to be as optimistic as I can, but I always have that one feeling that something is going to go wrong to not get my hopes high.
2. I do not agree that your childhood takes control of your future life. In my childhood I was always told that "everything is going to be okay in the end" which I guess gives a sense of hope to someone at that age. It makes the kid believe that even if everything is going wrong at the time, in the end it'll be fine.
3. I am going to create a balance between the two by factoring in the consequences of certain actions and be more realistic.
Self Consciousness
1. I believe that this article is accurate in regards to certain aspects of life. The article was very detailed especially on certain aspects of what we should think about when we question our purpose or who we are as individuals. I enjoyed reading the article because it made me realize that subconsciously I am thinking about these different questions brought up in the article. I often think a lot about "who do others think I am?" and "what do they expect me to become?" which mainly says that I think a lot about the 3rd person self conscious thought more than first person.
Locus of Control
1. I would consider my locus focus of control to be internal.
2. The test determined that I have a mixed attribution style when it comes to success. Sometimes I interpret my success as a result of my skills, intelligence, nice personality, etc. But other times I attribute it to external factors such as luck, ease of task, or other people's help. As a consequence, I don't always take the credit I deserve.
3. I would agree with this personality test because often times I do believe that I only perform well on tests because they were less difficult than the others. I would disagree that I determine my success as a result of my skills, because I don't really value the skills I have.

Such as ones personal traits and strengths and who and what is their meaning in life.
2. Positive psychology is such an important and beneficial part of our lives because it helps guide us to the desired happiness that every human craves for and overall leads us to a great future.
Optimism and Pessimism
1. I think I am more pessimistic in my life than optimistic because I do tend to doubt myself more often than not and with certain situations I will most likely expect the worse, just so that if I don't get the result I want it won't be so disappointing.
2. I don't think your childhood determines how optimistic or pessimistic, I think when people hit the preteen stages is where we really start getting a broader view in the world around us. If I look way back into my childhood I think the one thing that would made me more of a pessimist is the disappointment that I constantly kept receiving from the other side of my family.
3.
