Shelley's play concerns Prometheus' release from captivity, but unlike Aeschylus' version, there is no reconciliation between Prometheus and Jupiter (Zeus).

William Godwin is often regarded as the founder of philosophical anarchism. His philosophy states that society should exist without a government as it is corrupt. He believes the government should not influence the thoughts and actions of its citizens. His writing often surrounded these beliefs and other political ideas. Godwin's dedication to his writing impacted Shelley to the point where her book "Frankenstein" is originally dedicated to her father.

Then it shows the punishment that the mariner faced, due to his actions. Coleridge was inspired by a conversation with fellow poet William Wordsworth.
