While I was in high school I took an intro to education class online. This gave me the opportunity to observe classes and figure out if teaching is really for me. I have always loved kids and I have always felt like this was what I wanted to do. After observing, and having to teach a short lesson, I knew i loved teaching and I could not wait to pursue it. Over the summer I babysat the girl in the picture. She is an 8 year old in the 2nd grade, which is the exact age I want to teach. Although I would be happy with any grade K-4th, 2nd grade has always been my favorite. Getting to babysit this little girl made my decision to be a teacher even more clear.

I graduated from Perryville High School in May and I am now attending the University of Arkansas. Now that I am in college, I still fill very confident this is what I am meant to do. Currently my classes don't have much to do with teaching, but I am so excited for when they start to. My hope is that I will soon be able to start learning about teaching and about how to be a good teacher. I can not wait to learn how to be the best teacher I can be and make the best out of the next four years. So far, I love it here in Fayetteville, and I am so excited to learn!

After college I plan to teach at an elementary school that is is Arkansas. My entire family is from here and I would like to stay as close as possible. I want to be the kind of teacher that makes kids feel at home and loved because a lot of students do not have that. I can not wait to decorate my classroom and fill it with love for the students to be able to feel safe and calm in the environment. I am hoping to get my masters while working to further my education. I am so excited to teach one day and I hope that I can make the students feel as excited to learn as I am to teach them!
