Skaiwater has been a big influence on me due to his style of music incorporating Jersey Club beats to majority of his songs as well as alternative/hip-hip and rap. In his creations sampling vocals has been a factor in some of his songs too which I am currently trying to learn and understand how to make use out of in the correct way to make the best beat I can, looking at Skaiwaters work is what pushes me to perfect those techniques as well as take my producing skills to the next level.

Timbaland has had a huge influence on my producing style simply because he is one of the best record producers in my opinion. Being as skilled as he is, Timbaland moved away from solely using instruments in his music and instead mastering sampling, as well as using digital software or hardware to recreate certain instruments within the melodies and drums. This is precisely what my goal is as a producer, mastering sampling and using selected plugins to create and genre-blend in an innovative style.

Metros influence on me has been second to no one other than Skaiwater. Metros production skills have been labelled the greatest of this generation and has motivated me immensely to get up and do greater with my arts. His influence on not only me but thousands even millions of producers has pushed people to go to greater lengths. In particular his link with my music style is his somewhat dark trap beats and his ability to make anyone who hops on his track sound better and bring out the best in them.

Dr. Dre

Dre's influence on Timbaland was more about craftsmanship and the amount of time and effort put into mixes. As well as the tiny little details and noise changes within those mixes. Timbaland states he was more fascinated by how patient Dre would be through the mixes (Timbaland, 2021). Dre would touch up the mix and the next day come in and find something he could change to make even better (Timbaland, 2021). This is what Timbaland admired about his craftsmanship the ability to be able to constantly work on and improve his mixes and that is a skill required in more than just music production.

Mikes influence on Timbaland goes further than only Timbaland. Influencing and inspiring large amounts of artists worldwide, to this day. Although, for Timbaland in particular, Mikes influence comes more from a stylistic approach. Meaning that it was more in Michael Jacksons sonics and style of music that influenced Timbaland. Considering this while Timbaland was in his school crew, he was sampling Michaels songs / vocals such as “Human Nature” (Brydon, 2015) , going to show how much Mikes sound was an influence on him. Timbaland goes onto explain that the process felt as thought Michael was communicating through his music and guiding the process of the song stating “His spirit resonated through me to give me the okay” (Brydon, 2015).

Nas, a highly influential rapper, producer and entrepreneur hailing from New York City, played a significant role in shaping Timbaland's musical journey (MasterClass, 2021). While Timbaland's list of influences is larger, Nas stands out as a pivotal figure who influenced him primarily as a performer rather than a producer (MasterClass, 2021) . Nas's impact on Timbalands career is undeniable, as he crafted one of the most celebrated hip-hop debuts in history with his iconic album, Illmatic, releasing during the same time period that Timbaland was gaining popularity from production (MasterClass, 2021).

Kanye’s album “My beautiful dark twisted fantasy” being Skaiwaters number one album of all time, he took a lot of influence and inspiration from it (Barlas, 2022). The influence comes not only from the holistic sound of the album but also the amount of work and effort put into it. Skai admires Kanye’s mind and his creative genius always seeming like he’s one step ahead and knowing what to do to go further (Barlas, 2022). Skaiwater looks at this like a skill mark and wants to expand his musical thought process to be tapped into what’s necessary from the industry (Barlas, 2022).

Green Day

Green Day's influence on Metro Boomin was directly stated in quote basically saying that when Metro had first began making beats Green Day had released the album 'American Idiot' (Mench, 2017). The sound and sonics of that album really resonated with Metro and he began to take on "that whole, dark moody vibe" (Mench, 2017). Metro Boomin naturally gravitates towards a darker sound and it definitely shows in his songs, Which I personally really enjoy as it gives the listener a huge sense of emotion behind the song. Metro also states he makes those types of tones in his songs because "more than any, I've always preferred those types of feelings" (Mench, 2017).

Pharrell's influence on Metro Boomin is less about music, mixing or producing and more about stepping out in culture and thinking outside the box in terms of business (Smith-West, 2017). Metro states that Pharrell is a "big time tastemaker and trendsetter, just for the culture, period" (Smith-West, 2017). This is what Metro Boomin aspires to be, someone of influence on the culture, which personally, I believe he has already achieved as I wouldn't be writing about him if he wasn't.

Mike Jack, probably one of the biggest influences on a large number of artists in this generation. Metro Boomin's like to Michael Jackson stems from the impact he had through adapting to the styles necessary regarding audience and industry (Smith-West, 2017). Metro states how Michael Jackson would "invent shit" as well as "reinvent himself and his style" (Smith-West, 2017), further proving that the adaptation that comes with appealing to a large audience when you're as big as Michael Jackson or Metro Boomin can be a big change. Metro obviously admires this about Jackson and his ability to change and it has an influence / impact on how Metro progress' himself in the music scene.

Having a father who was creating and producing music while Skaiwater was young, Skai grew up surrounded by music and different production techniques every single day (Barlas, 2022). Skai states that his father used to produce in the kitchen so Skai would constantly be hearing new different sounds all the time. Considering he grew up around it he was influenced himself by his dad to begin his own production journey, getting his father to help teach him and mentor him in using FL studios to bring his ideas to life (Barlas, 2022).
