Sara Fortis is one of the many resisters of the Holocaust.

Who was Sara Fortis?

Sara Fortis was born in 1927 in Chalkis, a small town near Athens, Greece. The Nazis arrived in her hometown in 1944, her and her mother escaped to a small village Kuturia and hid there until it wasn't safe. She soon became a resistance fighter, she traveled from village to village to recruit other females who also wanted to fight. The group was formed and they had their first mission where they needed to throw molotov cocktails at the enemy. They started to come to many other missions which included, burning houses, executed Nazi collaborators, and aiding injured men.

The impact of this group was that they had helped many people, if they hadn't been there to help,

there would have been more people that would've died.

She never knew her father, who died when she was only 2 months old.
They were 100% Greek but they had still celebrated many Jewish holidays.
She was arrested after the war, because the andartes fell out of favor with the new Greek government, but was
shortly released due to her positive reputation.
She was called captain Serika.

Aftermath.

After the war, The Andartes ad loss support from the new Greek government. Sara Fortis was arrested but released due to her reputation. She shortly immigrated to Israel where she met her husband and settled down.
