My name is Kyara Louise Ababao and I aspire to be a Veterinary Doctor in the near future. I have high hopes that I will reach that goal sooner or later! It has been my dream to become a Veterinary Doctor ever since I was in elementary school. Animals are basically the whole world to me . Not only do I want to succeed in my goal to become a Veterinary Doctor, but to also inspire others that we need to lend a helping hand to the other creatures that also call earth as their home. When you are worried about the small details of a situation you will be unable to get a general understanding of the situation as a whole. In life, it simply means that you should not spend all your time on small things that would later become insignificant to you. Instead, we should focus on everything in our life to get a better understanding of what path we are choosing to take. Only when major events in our lives take place like failing health, job loss, disastrous relationships, and so on is when we realize that we should focus more on the bigger picture rather than the details. The window of opportunity closes quickly if we don't seize it. We are so focused on looking for a set of specific things, not realizing that is not how life works. Sometimes we are too scared to let go of what we thought we wanted in order to get what was meant for us. We can be focused on the things we 'want', but as time goes on, maybe the things we wanted once aren't the things that are meant for us. And that’s a good thing because there are better things in store if we let them. The problem with chasing a specific thing, especially when life keeps creating obstacles or gives us different calls is that we stop chasing it for the right reasons and we get lost in it. We chase it for our ego, not for our heart. How do we know we're living an authentic life and not missing the forest for the trees? This quote that was shared during the webinar has made a lot of impact on me and the way I deal with my academic struggles. It unambiguously means that you simply have to put one foot in front of the other and keep going. Life is an interesting thing. By that, I mean that there is always something interesting going on. Plenty of distractions. It is easy to lose our direction if we are not paying attention. This quote reminds us to keep going, by simply taking one step after the next, until we get to where we are going. But it can take a long time if you lose your way. Getting distracted could cause you to take many steps in a direction other than your desired destination. Once you have an idea as to where you want to go, you have to pick a route. Even the route to the field you choose has still many routes. Once you have chosen your path, it is time to get busy. It’s time to embark on your journey and put one foot in front of the other until you get to where you are going. While there will be mistakes made along the path, if you allow yourself to be distracted, those mistakes will multiply. Sometimes you need to remember to stop from time to time and examine your progress. Sometimes it is a wiser course of action to change your approach, and therefore your direction, when facing a rough road. Life is full of shiny objects, it is up to us to develop either the discipline or to find techniques that limit or prevent distractions while we are on our path.
