The theme in “Stargirl” was that you shouldn’t judge somebody by their looks or actions. I found this theme in the beginning of the book starting on page 3. 

How does this relate to the theme?

This is when everybody in their school thought that Stargirl didn’t fit in because she looked and acted differently from everyone else. A theme in the book is to not give up in hard times.

How does this relate to the theme?

The characters in "The Cay" were stuck in a raft. Then they found an island but they were in the the devil's mouth, and it was deserted. Then Timothy died on the island and the main character did not give up. He tried to survive and later he was saved by a passing air jet during World War II. (chapter 15).

This relates to the theme because it shows that even after several attempts of trying to be adequate at volleyball, it is something that Shreya was not be able to accomplish.
